February 10, 201412 yr Can't wait to welcome him back to the Reds Hall of Fame. He was a key cog in getting this team out of the gutter from the early to mid 2000's. I'm going to miss him, but thank God the Reds aren't going to pay him that much. Agree on all points.

February 10, 201412 yr Bronson was great for the Reds, but they simply cannot afford to pay Arroyo that type of coin this late in his career. I'm sorry that he's no longer a Red but I'm glad they didn't give him that type of contract.

February 10, 201412 yr WBP was much, much , much more of a positive than a negative during his stint as a Red. Reds wouldn't have had their division titles without his innings, wins, leadership, and mentoring of guys like Leake. He was an all-around big plus for this franchise. Never refused to take the ball. Wish him continued good fortune. I thoroughly enjoyed watching him baffle hitters with his 75 mph stuff. Very cerebral pitcher.

Arroyo and Hanigan are good subtractions. If bullpen is healthy and grandpa Ludwick hits .264 with 60 rbis we are better than last year:ylsuper:

And by that, I mean on those days where he was "off", and probably should've been pulled after 3 innings, he usually ended up staying in there and going 5 or 6, just to save the bullpen. Did his stats suffer because of it? Sure it did. Did it give Dusty an option to not have to overextend the pen? Absolutely. Now, there are going to be those that'll say Cingrani or anybody else is a better pitcher right now, and won't get hammered that way to begin with. I'm not so sure. And I doubt that Price will want to jeopardize the confidence of any of his young pitchers, and won't have that luxury of keeping them in.

St. Louis showed how you use the young guys. :laugh: There's a difference between young guys and young guys with talent. The Reds farm system is thin, you can't afford to use the young guns. St. Louis farm system is pretty good. They have a pretty good recipe for success, have 3-4 guys who are all star capable with a solid rotation and fill the rest of the roster out with guys who may not be world beaters but can do a job when it needs to be done.
