So I am going to bring it up again...will the crowd be able to fit in the gym? By the crowd, I mean the turnout that was at the HC/PC game earlier this year.

You guys get to play PC every year so don't get tore up about having to drive 20 miles. No better than the game will be I wouln't bother going to Falmouth if your worried about not getting in.

Great if you are the big schools that actually have a chance making it to Rupp on any givin year. If your a little school it stinks. Every once in a great while you may win the district but thats never a givin with how top heavy the districts have become. Best case senario is you get to be the runner up at district and play a powerhouse in the first round of region.

 

What do you tell thses kids from the smaller schools? Congrats on a great yr guys district runner up and first round elimination in region. What a goal to set... :no: :idunno:

Please refresh my memory wasnt that Augusta, Bracken, Deming, and Pendelton? back in the early 90's? When i attended Bracken (98 grad) i think we was in the 38th but Campbell, Brossart and PC was the district with us i cant be certain. Please correct me if im wrong.

No, don't classify for the kids, who play different non revenue sports, who only get to have a state tourney because of the current Sweet Sixteen cash cow and if you do classify, don't count on playing at Rupp!

Who says you cant still have a tournament at Rupp?? Yeah it may not be the sweet 16 anymore but once all your classes was to get to thier final 4 those teams could go to Rupp and play for thier respective class championship! Play the first and second rounds at rotating schools kinda like the All A does now. Not only would you still have a Tournament at Rupp, but it gives the little guys a chance to play there too. Talk about motivation for a small school! Work your way up to the class ladder when playing your games. Start out with smallest class to the biggest. Still have 4 day event in March at Rupp. It can and should be done. Might draw more people to the state tournament. Who knows??

Won't happen. Classes kill rivalries which kill crowds. Couldn't afford Rupp. If you think any different you obviously have not experienced classes. Check football crowds.

Did I say 6 classes?? Why not 3 or 4? Maybe just 2. The number of classes is a minor detail. Don't need a bunch of classes. 6 probably too many. Like you said it might hurt attendance. Maybe two classes and the winners of the two different classes play for the overall state champ. Lot of scenarios that could be discussed.

 

How does it kill rivalries? Last I checked a rivalry was two evenly matched teams that the outcome is always down to the wire. The Bracken / Augusta comes to mind just for an example. Maybe Robertson and Nicholas. It's not a rivalry if the mr big school pounds little school all the time. You can always make new rivalries with teams in your class. Usually the rivals are teams close to size and ability. GRC /MoCo, Mason / MoCo come to mind. I'm sorry I'm a little 10th region biased, but I'm sure it's that way state-wide. I can see where the bigger schools like it the way it is. That way the dominate there region as to the alternative where they may just be mediocre or just a little better than average in comparison to the rest of the teams in there class.

 

As far as the all a goes if basketball was to be classified do away with it. The all a has not been as it was intended for, for many years now.

 

As far as our football program which by the way hasn't been in existence that long has a lot of work ahead of it. I feel we will get there one day, but it takes time. As for the time being we are a basketball school. In comparison to Highlands being a football school.

It will always a heavily debated subject. I will always feel it needs to be classified and I'm not alone on that matter. I just hope one day I'm the majority not the minority.

Well first off HHS has been to the Sweet Sixteen, in fact more times that most schools in the Ninth so much for your football school take.... and show me, tell me, what state does it better than what Kentucky does $$$$$ wise and then we can talk!

 

You just don't get it do you! The money the KHSAA makes on the Sweet Sixteen allows all the other sports to have their state tourneys.

 

Think Football, think the ALL "A" and then tell me why you think the crowds will come out in force to see what you want the KHSAA to buy! :ohbrother:
