With Chuck Smith coming back to Boyle does anyone think the consolidation rumors about Danville and Boyle gain momentum?

 

No I don't see this ever happening Danville is an independent , and there is to much old money in their system for them to have to consolidate with a county school plus there's more resentment between the older part of these two schools supporters than most people know.

I agree with your entire post. I do keep hearing rumblings about it but I would be shocked if it were to ever happen. I know some people who believe it will happen soon though.

I was told that Larry had said that if he knew Chuck wanted to come back to Boyle that he would step down and that Chuck could have the job. Guess it just depends on how much you trust your sources.

 

This is pretty much what I was told and posted a few posts ago I agree I think Larry would have helped Chuck in anyway possible.

Not saying that Larry wouldn't have helped him but are we saying that NO ONE knew that Chuck wanted to be back in Boyle County. That has been knowledge since he left UK. I am not sure if it was all a set up or not but Powers to be have always known Chuck would have loved to come back to Boyle. Like I have said earlier I think Chuck is a great person and coach, but I will stick by my feelings that this situation leaves a bad taste in my mouth especially for the young men at Madison Central.

The Boyle job was not available until this past Monday after Larry resigned for Southwestern. Chuck has to much respect for Larry and would never had asked him to step aside. Larry left on his own terms and Chuck jumped on the chance for the Boyle job. Both are happy now, Larry coaching with his son and Chuck back where he belongs at Boyle!

I really would have loved to see if Supercoach would have been successful in 6A. I know that there are people on here who will maintain that he would have been successful wherever he was at but we'll never know will we. Wasn't he a head coach somewhere before Boyle? What kind of success did he have then?

I could be mistaken but I believe he was an assistant under Larry French at Mercer County before he took over at Boyle. Boyle may have been his first head coaching job but I am not certain.

 

What is your definition of successful in 6A for SuperCoach?

He went from Mercer to ACS for the 87 season as HC. Then to Campbellsville HS from 88-90 or 91. Then to Boyle. I think those are the years?!

At least be in the mix on a regular basis for championships, kind of like McKee at Scott County. McKee has what I would consider to be the preeminent public school program in 6A. If Supercoach is what everyone seems to think he is then he should be able to accomplish that, but I guess we'll never know.

So Chuck is hired for the coaching position, I would guess that they will put him in a teaching soon in about 3 weeks or as soon as they create one. No way the coaching position only helps towards his retirement.
