3 pointer at the buzzer for the Dogs.

The buzzer beater…2.9 sec to go J Harris

Other pictures from this very entertaining game:

Holmes took a ten point lead in at half, held that lead throughout much of the 3rd and fourth quarter only to have Highlands snatch the lead with about a minute to go. Both teams scored and counter scored in the last few opportunities only to have Harris hit the buzzer beater with 2.9 seconds. Great game and a shame either lost.

Didnt see this happening. Holmes is so unpredictable. Good win for the Bulldogs.

The dogs will be seeded 4th in the district, I think. Toughest district in the 9th it looks like. They certainly have the talent to beat anyone, but putting together a string of wins, if they can beat the #1 seed, will be tough. one of those teams no one wants to play at tourney time.

They beat NDA, lost a close one to HC and Beechwood crushed them. Hard to get a handle on them.

Jynea Harris scored just before the final buzzer to lift the Lady Bulldogs to the victory. Highlands has lost two in a row playing its third game in four days.

The Bluebirds (14-5) made a valiant comeback attempt down 41-31 entering the fourth quarter. They outscored the Lady Bulldogs, 23-15 in the final frame.

Brianna Adler and McKenzie Leigh led the Highlands comeback attempt scoring 17 and 14 respectively. Adler made five three-pointers and Leight hit 9-of-10 free-throw attempts.

Highlands does not play again until Saturday at home against Conner. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

Fort Thomas Sports: NewCath handles OCath; Highlands girls lose at buzzer

This is still a bit of a shocker to me even at the Fieldhouse. I will say this, Holmes does seem to be buying into the system that Coach Perkins is selling. Meanwhile, Highlands not playing their best basketball heading into February, but still time to turn it around heading into tourney time in 3 weeks.

Living by the "post the next day" rule, perhaps he is still cooling off. :angrybird2:

Sorry to disappoint!! Didn't make this game either. Softball workouts last night. So I was waiting to collect all the data and check in with the ESPN analyst to get their take.

First, I don't think the sky is falling in the fort. I do think the girls are a little disappointed they let the last two get away. I think they felt they were winnable games. Not taking anything away from either opponent. Both are good, just think the Birds would like a couple do overs.

As I said, I didn't see the game, but it sounded like Holmes shot the ball well and we didn't rebound again. I think Holmes hit 7 3's in this one and banked many shots in, including a half court heave at half and the game winner. My daughter described it as "everything they threw up went it!" Our rebounding effort is our own fault. But they did travel to Maysville and played a very fast game the night before and they aren't too deep off the bench. So I know they are getting tired at this point in the season. Also, something that you other school don't do comes into play for HHS. They focus on school work!!! My daughter has been up til 2am the last 3 nights writing a paper for her AP class. All kids at HHS get pounded with homework, sometimes taking 3-4 hours to get done. They all take pride in their work, so very few take shortcuts because GPA is cool at HHS. Obviously I am kidding about other schools not working on academics. Just messing around. But that a reality at HHS. I'm sure it is at other schools as well.

No real excuses. We all know Holmes has the ability to beat anyone. I've been talking about them for weeks and this was a game that scared me. Just wish I could have seen it.

HHS knows they haven't been gretting their best effort. I think it's a time of the season where it wearing on ya a little and the next big events aren't til districts. It's go thru the motions time of the year. I'm sure they will pull it back together. Heck that only makes them 14-5. That's not bad for a young team that graduated 6 seniors and playing a pretty good schedule.

HHS missed 3's early on and as you say didn't rebound. The true game changer in my opinion was a very effective half court trap in the 2nd half. Holmes really didn't have a good answer for it and their big girl began missing the 4 footers once they did break it. The HHS comeback was impressive and there is nothing you can do on a last second desperation shot that goes in. It is always good to be the team with ball in hand in the final seconds of a game. Seemed like the play was to go inside and HHS shut it down, with time running out the ball came to Harris and the coach yelled shoot it, which as we all know she did.

Both teams have a real shot in the 9th. Who is sophomore 33 for Holmes who transferred in? Any details?

Pretty sure that Gulley. Her dad, aunts and uncles all played at Holmes.

Yes! Not completely sure but I believe her mother went to and played at Holmes as well.

I think you're right. I wasn't positive.
