MyRA - AHCA part II?

Featured Replies

Centralized, standardized, run by the government (single payer).

Implemented through executive action (no political debate).

Some informal commentary heavily laced with sarcasm on youtube:

Wasn't Social Security supposed to be the 'retirement' vehicle run by the government?

Is this an expansion of the nanny state or a replacement to system that will collapse in the next decade?

Is this nationalization/government takeover of a major part of the financial industry?

This is the single worst political idea/initiative I've seen in my lifetime.

The saddest part about this is the lemmings will fall right in line to support it.

It's all good. There are plenty folks on this board that get giddy at the thought of the ever expanding tentacles of the Federal Govt.

How is this legal without action from Congress? If Congress doesn't act on this power grab I don't know who to have faith in anymore.

What is stopping people now from contributing to a Roth IRA and buying treasuries?

Their own stupidity.

The KING doesnt need approval from those under him.

The Constitution is only concrete and matters when it benefits the Administration's agenda. When the Constitution doesn't benefit the Administration, it is a living, breathing, ever-changing document.

I just don't get what this accomplishes. It just brings another layer of government. Everything he says this new account can do can be accomplished in current Roth IRA's. It does not benefit anyone or accomplish anything.

It accomplishes nothing more than giving the government a little bit more control over society.

Any person, whether working or otherwise, can invest in some sort of DC retirement account, whether that be 401(k), IRA, Roth, etc.

Must roll it over to a Roth IRA when it reaches $15,000.

You can start with as little as $25 and invest as little as $5 a month.

I think most people who do this will change jobs at some point after enrolling and forget about the account and lose the money.

It really feels more like a skimming scheme than a useful program.

Not one of your better arguments. Try again.

Exactly what this administration is about.
