OK... here's the number I want: weeks spent in the top 25 by all teams in a league over the last 20 years. Second statistic: that number as a ratio of total weeks over the number of teams in each league. I'd be very curious to know the results of that.

Then you better get busy. :lol2:

I would have thought more ACC teams had gone to the FF.

Doesn't the Big 10 have the most teams from its conference who have been to a Final Four?

They have 7....Indiana (1), Minnesota (1), Michigan (1), Illinois (1), Wisconsin (1), Michigan State (6), and Ohio State (3).

You're on your own for that one. :D

I love statistics; I despise data collection.

I like that number--all those different teams making a trip.

But as I said earlier, 1 out of 14 is pretty telling too.

Which shows that the Big 10 perhaps has more quality spread out but the lack of titles perhaps shows not having elite teams. Just a theory on my part though.............

The one thing I can say is that the bottom feeders this year in the big conferences are really, really, bad teams.

I love data collection...........Well when I can skew it to meet my needs.......

The easy answer (though maybe not so easy for the SEC cheerleaders) is that conferences don't win titles, teams do.

I would argue with that statement, but I don't have anything..............

The SEC is obviously not one of the stronger basketball conferences from top to bottom.

I always go back to 1990 just because it's easier. And I also think that's sort of when College Basketball took off. The 3-point line had made it a more up-tempo game, plus that's around the time Duke became the power it remains. And I don't say this to troll, but Duke gave a reason for people to watch because so many hate them.

I personally think the best apples to apples comparison is the 64 team era, which began in 1985. This will be the 30th year with 64+ teams and even if you count the additional teams as a slightly different bracket, since 1985 every team has won 6 games to win a title.

ACC - 8 (Duke - 4, North Carolina - 3, Maryland - 1)

Big East - 6 (Connecticut - 3, Louisville - 1, Syracuse - 1, Villanova - 1)

SEC - 6 (Kentucky - 3, Florida - 2, Arkansas - 1)

Big Ten - 3 (Indiana - 1, Michigan - 1, Michigan State - 1)

Pac-10 - 2 (Arizona - 1, UCLA - 1)

Big 8 - 1 (Kansas - 1)

Big 12 - 1 (Kansas - 1)

Big West - 1 (UNLV - 1)

Metro - 1 (Louisville - 1)

By team:

Duke - 4

Connecticut - 3

Kentucky - 3

North Carolina - 3

Florida - 2

Kansas - 2

Louisville - 2

Arizona - 1

Arkansas - 1

Indiana - 1

Maryland - 1

Michigan - 1

Michigan State - 1

Syracuse - 1

UCLA - 1

UNLV - 1

Villanova - 1

Good stuff DF! :thumb:

One of Kentucky's greatest stats is hidden in these numbers: 3 titles since 1985, won by 3 different coaches.

What SEC schools went to the Final Four other than Kentucky & Florida?

Arkansas

LSU

Mississippi State (forgot them)

When NC State won the title didn't Georgia make the final four that year?

When NC State won the title didn't Georgia make the final four that year?

That was 1983 & I was only going back to 1990.
