A twist in the original story by St. Xavier staffer. Todd Walsh is now CO-HEAD COACH and will coach offensive line. Bart Bruner is the DC. October 3 will be here before you know it!

Glad Coach Walsh will still be on staff. I believe Coach Walsh started his coaching career at X as an OL coach.

Todd was always considered the front runner for the hc. Sounds like some ruffled feathers are being smoothed out.

Delegation. I'm sure Coach Wolford was a bit overwhelmed when he first started a year ago. It makes sense to allow a person who has been at the school for about 20 years to help with some of the background stuff that comes with being a HC.

I just do not believe that Mike would talk to MAnual or Ballard. Besides, they have coaches, and I do not see him as an assistant.

 

Weird thing, I was told Manual as well.

I have also learned the following:

 

1. Bart Brunner will serve as Defensive Coordinator

 

2. Todd Walsh will remain on coaching staff.

 

3. Stefan Lefores will leave Christian Academy for position at UofL.

 

4. Mike Glasier will go to Christian Academy.

Source tells me Chad Lyons will be the Offensive Line coach, Todd Walsh will be the Tight Ends Coach and assistant head coach as stated earlier, Bart Bruner IS returning and will be the defensive coordinator. Very reliable source so take it however you want, but it is true.

 

My reaction:

1. Chad Lyons moving from running backs coach to offensive line opens up a spot on the staff and although the source did not tell me this, I am drawing my own conclusion that Vic Anderson will step in as running back coach. Anderson coached some in the CSAA league this past year and is pursuing a coaching career. Almost got on staff with LeFors at CAL, but returning to St. X would be intriguing.

2. Walsh moving to the offensive side of the ball is interesting. High school tight end coaches don't usually mean much, but I guess there must be something more to do with this whole "Assistant Head Coach" gig. What does that mean? Why is there a need for 2 head coaches? Sounds like more trouble or the Athletic Department realizing they messed up? Can't wait to see how this plays out.

3. As I said in this thread previously, I would be shocked if Bart Bruner returned. And let me tell you, I am shocked. He is a great coach though and I'm sure he's been itching to get back out there just like all great football lovers do. He will elevate the play of the defense tremendously. However, DO NOT blame him when the Tigers give up a bunch of points this season. They just don't have the number of playmakers on that side of the ball as years past.

 

Well this off season just got a lot more interesting!! 4 Months till spring ball...

Just seems like a lot of drama. Hopefully these decisions work out to benefit all involved.

4. Mike Glaser will go to Christian Academy.

Has been the last 2 years. They wait until spring sports are pretty much over besides of course baseball, but it begins at the end of lacrosse/around finals. Don't know exact dates yet.
