I don't see moving to 2A as improving fan interst or participation. Maybe it's just me, but Beechwood has had no problem getting fan interest in the community or player participation.

Sample the Beechwood fan base and see if they would prefer 4 games a year against Dayton, Bellevue, Brossart, Ludlow or if they would like to see four games against Lloyd, Holy Cross, Newport, NewCath. Beechwood can't play any JV games in 1A and usually those 4 games in 1A result in 3 or 4 running clocks and does nothing to prepare them for the postseason. Remember their glory days of the 90s was when there was only 4 classes so 1A was comprised of more teams.

I would agree if their out of district games weren't as strong as they are. I would too take HC, Lloyd etc over the dayton and Bellevues etc. but that doesn't mean they are still that string and competitive. Let's face it, NCC and BW would still be the class of 2A with quite a drop off to #3 in the district. It's really no difference than it is now IMO.

Well it would be a big difference because Beechwood would be in the same district as NCC and that alone would be worth it for Beechwood. Plus with new districts Beechwood may not be able to continue to schedule CovCath, NCC, Dixie, etc as those teams may have extra district games or just do not have the right weeks open.

It should just bump Breckinridge into 4A. Bath County should be in 2A and DeSales should be in 3A. Other than that and some of the sorting issues, you're mostly fine until the top of 4A. Valley wouldn't have been in 4A anyway because they're larger than a few that will be in 5A, but they'd be bumped up since you'd missed Breathitt County. Also, you're missing Johnson Central (522 & 551 for 536.5 average) in 4A, which bumps up Atherton (which was larger than South Warren anyway). Other than that, you've got it correct. Your 5A should begin with South Warren at 544.5 and include Atherton and Valley both in it.

 

I don't know how I got Mercer County crossed up. That's the one major I've seen so far.

To the bolded... Why? Is it more important for Beechwood to win state titles, or beat NewCath? I think the Beechwood faithful would prefer state titles.
