Hating a Team Due to its Fans

Featured Replies

Oh yes. UK fans turned me off many many many years ago. Got sick of hearing how great they were or how great they thought they were.

I think most people get a direct perception of a team based on the fans of a

teams actions. I've been to alot of road NFL games and have been treated really well

most of the time, however the times I was treated bad it made me feel differently against

said team.

Yes. I hated UK because of UK fans and that began when I was around 10 years old. BGP UK fans have actually helped me not hate UK like I used to because you guys are way more sensible than 18% of the UK fans I come across.

Exactly the same for me. Growing up a Louisville fan in Frankfort didn't make matters any easier in terms of dealing with UK fans at a young age either. Never hated the University or the teams, and I can only tell you two players that I really dislike that played for UK. Their fans are the worst, and it's not close.

I know that I used to talk about this back in the day on BGP. The Ram brothers I believe used to be in on those talks. Growing up in Louisville as kid, I really thought you could learn a lot about a kid by whether he was a UofL fan or a UK fan.

You've never interacted with Ohio State fans have you? Everyone else, even the psychotic UK fans, pale in comparison.

Ohio State Football fans are hard to deal with.

Yep... Them, WVU fans, Miami fans, UC fans. I can keep going. None of them are worse than UK fans, IMO.

You do realize that I was a UK fan when you met me. Not anymore, the fans pretty well drove me into the arms of the Irish. That and I am more or less indifferent to basketball.

Four years of college in Ohio. Yeah, it was pretty rough.

Nothing like that first experience of walking around a campus that's more than an hour away from Columbus on a chilly October evening and having someone as you "Did we win today?" only to find out they were talking about Ohio State's noon matchup with Purdue.

You do realize that I was a UK fan when you met me. Not anymore, but still.

No I didn't.

But it helps explain some things...

I have never met a single person around the world that does not think fans in their immediate vicinity is not the most insufferable.

I don't know... nobody at UK has ever pelted Louisville's cheerleaders with batteries...

And for me the worst fans are Vanderbilt. They rub it in your face to no end if they win, and flaunt their ACT scores if they lose.
