If the 4 team playoff were to start this year....would you rather have the BCS?

Featured Replies

I think I would rather have the BCS Championship game instead of the 4 team Playoff this year.

(1)Florida State vs (2)Auburn appeals to me more than:

1. Florida State vs I don't know Baylor, Michigan State, Alabama, Stanford???

2. Auburn vs I don't know Baylor, Michigan State, Alabama, Stanford???

And if Florida State and Auburn were to lose in semis......or one of them wins and then loses in the Final....I'm not sure if I fully believe the winner of the Final was the best team in the land.

Sometimes the best team fails to win. Happens all the time in single elimination tournaments.

I prefer a four team playoff to the BCS, but I've posted in the past the true 16 team model that I would LOVE to see.

That is what always occurs in a playoff format. Whether people like it or not, the BCS generally pairs the two teams that achieved the most success during the regular season. The BCS doesn't offend me like it does most people. Sure makes each week incredibly dramatic.

^ I just don't think we have enough information to really know for sure who the two best are. Single-elimination tournaments are inherently flawed but given the small sample size of games during the regular season, I'm up for a playoff allowing as many teams as possible to prove their merits on the field rather than in the polls.

Granted......the Super Bowl champ might not really be the absolute Best team......but at least in the NFL pretty much all the "good" teams had a shot in the playoffs. To me whatever 4 teams you select there would be 2 to 4 others that would have just as much claim to being included in the 4.

Actually the BCS awards the teams that had the most success at the end of the season.

Everytime a team loses near the end of the season it kills any chance of them getting a bid to the championsip game. If you lose early on the season then you stand a much better chance.

If alabama lost early in the season and that was their only loss they would be playing for the championsip. Just the way the BCS works and why it never was a good way of handing out the Championship title.

Bingo! This is one reason why a playoff makes more sense, IMO.

How are the 4 playoffs teams going to be chosen? Same formula as the BCS or something different?

^ There is a selection committee.

Ewwww

Ewwww

Ye! The committee has some people you would never expect to be on it too like Condolesa Rice.

If it was a final four then Bama and Auburn would be playing again.

FSU would more than likely be playing Michigan State.

Hmmm I wonder which conference she leans towards more....

Why is one or both of those teams losing so horribly wrong. Using your potential bracket I see a Bama vs Auburn rematch. Yea, that would be horrible with two teams battling neck and neck until the last play of the game.......and this time the best team might win.
