I will take away a lot of special memories that will last a lifetime.

1st and foremost, after 12 years of playing football I got to watch my son finish his senior season ending a phenominal high school career that was filled with great plays and watching him play in a state championship game his junior year.

 

I got to watch the end of many great kids high school careers that I watched since they were knee high to a grassphopper. Watching these young boys grow up and compete with eachother and then againsty each other the last 4 years have been very special. Wish them all the best in the future and to their parents who have become life long friends, we will tap our glasses together again, you can count on it.

 

I will take away a great weekend of State Championship games. We watched BG continue on such a n incredible run where they not only capture their 3rd straight state title, but also extend their 3 year unbeaten record which is incredible in itself. We also watched the end of one of the most impressive runs in High School football when Highlands after such an epic 6 year run of State titles come to an end on a last second play. That game alone was so thrilling to wath,my heart goes out to the kids who had to walk awayy on the losing end of the scoreboard, but a game that Hollywood script couldn't do justice. Seeing a backup QB come off the bench with no warm ups and have to walk onto the field on 4th and game only to complete a pass into folklore that will never be forgotten and relived in the backyards of many little kids in the state from here on out. Years from now kids of today will be telling the story of the Cinderella Collins team of 2013.

 

Last but not least I will take away the new freindships formed throughout the football season. I love high school football and now that all my kids are too old to play the sport again in high school i will be a fan moree of the game than just of my kin and will never forget what High School Football does inside all of us.

I agree...getting to the top of the mountain is the easy part..trying to stay there is the hard part that only a hand full have done over the years...HHS, Trinity, BG, Mayfield and New-Cath to name a few...lets let the next five years play out and see what happens..I have a feeling you will see these names on the tropy again real soon.

Oh yeah, the Fussinger kid from Cooper is a player, single-handedly beat my Breds :ylsuper:

For me,

 

1A - Mayfield keeps on keeping on while Williamsburg gets a taste of the spotlight!

2A - Desales plays a real good schedulevand rides it to their 1st Championship. NCC with yet another rock solid year.

3A - Belfry may be the toughest team in the state. Wayne Co dethroned Central and thats saying something.

4A - Best game of the 6. Collins got to the mountain last year and got to the top this year with a 1-play back-up QB to win. HHS was rock solid all year as usual with the only reg season loss by 3 to Elder and left it all on the field. They will be back.

5A - BG completes 3-peat and runs streak to 44 games. Pulaski was a really good team and their future is as bright as anyones in 5A.

6A - New Blood! Good for the game. Scott finally exercised some demons and Meade Co likely will be saying what if for a long time.

All and all, was a very exciting high school football season. Culminating in an excellent weekend at WKU. CRAZY weather forced the scheduling adjustments, but the end result was very competitive championship games, all but two where down to the wire exciting endings. That is exactly is the way these games should be. Congratulations to all the the team's, and a extra congratulatory to DeSales and Collins, both of whom experienced their first state football titles. Can't wait for nexted year to get here.

I'd say that it was one of the craziest years I can remember. A Meade County team that was off everyone's radars makes the finals and is a blown call away from beating a Scott County team that decisively beat Male, with Meade County losing to Male earlier that year by 29? Just insane. Throw that in with Collins surprising I think everyone on this site except UK#1Fan and you have all the makings for a crazy year.

Tonight is Cooper's Football Banquet. I have been able to keep it together all year, even on Senior night I was able to make it through tear free....tonight may be a little different. Sad thinking about it all being over as far as High School Football goes.
