When UL stops their circus the clowns will stop laughing, UL you can't help but comment on when they lie openly and dont discipline their players. It is a state school in KY that is making the state look foolish. I don't hate on the SEC, just think the fans should stop lighting candles when watching the games.

So just to make sure I understand correctly....It's okay for you to do it, because UofL deserves the criticism, but it's hatred and jealousy for anyone to do it to Ohio State, because they're a bunch of choir boys who don't deserve and are above ridicule?

I have family who are huge OSU fans, and going to UK, you'd hear lots of "PayPal Cal" and the like from OSU fans. Now the shoe is one the other foot and they are back to their winning ways, but it comes with a price. Making a deal with Urban Meyer is making a deal with the Devil.

 

Not really a fan of Urban Meyer. I greatly respect his ability to coach and what he's achieved, but I view him as a win at all costs, throw you under the bus in a heartbeat if he could get ahead, would stab you in the back in a heartbeat kinda character.

 

To some people, that may seem really ironic coming from a UK fan. But, with Calipari, I see a guy who is about himself for sure, but he also seems to understand that he helps himself out when he helps his kids out. It helps him sell UK in recruiting to be able to point to all the "players first" kind of things he does. Maybe he's doing things for the right reason or maybe it's some warped reason that helps him get ahead, but he still seems to genuinely care about the kids (if nothing else, purely out of his own self interest).

 

With Cal, there at least seems to be some discipline (speaking on his time at UK), if for no other reason than it's a reminder that you are hurting your draft stock (and wallet) and putting someone whose trying to help you out (your coach) in a really difficult position. Look at the Liggins situation after he was arrested, and see Cal posting a picture of them saying they'd had a "talk". That might not have been popular (in fact it wasn't), but Liggins, a kid he didn't even recruit, was on the first flight he could probably catch back to Lexington and meeting with Cal after it occurred. Cal didn't have to do that. The easy thing to do would have been to ignore it or give it a "he's not my player anymore, I can't control these guys once they are gone".

 

 

With Urban, I see a guy who doesn't really care about the kids and sees them only as a means to an end: winning college games, nothing more, nothing less. The difference is that his ends don't end up helping the kids out nearly as much. Having discipline problems that are apparent (look at the number of players he had arrested at Florida and Ohio State).

 

Do you really think there's a strong sense of discipline in those programs? How do you think this translates when they go to the next level, people are going to be as talented as they are, and the teams won't need them as much? Sure, teams take a chance drafting a guy like Aaron Hernandez or Chris Rainey, but it's like commentators on the Hernandez situation noted when saying "first round talent, fourth or fifth round draft grade for a reason". There's no doubt in my mind that, on at least some levels, Hernandez probably thought he could get away with murder because of the way he was treated at Florida. Once this stuff started coming out, you hear about incidents where he fired into a car, got into altercations at bars, etc. Most importantly, you have the guy whose apparently the superstar lawyer of Gainsville, one who routinely took on cases involving high profile athletes at Florida giving an interview where he basically implies that he wasn't surprised in the least when he finds out about Hernandez.

 

With all that said, there has been nothing at Ohio State that's compared to the Hernandez or Rainey situations, but I feel it's indicative of a culture that Urban establishes. Sure, he doesn't make them do criminal things, but he doesn't really do much to stop it either. It's a pattern of behavior from his teams, on the whole, that is most indicative of the type of culture in his program. If you think you're getting tired of hearing about things like this now, wait until the entire program is filled with kids he's recruited. I'll be very surprised if incidents like this aren't the tip of the iceberg as far as disciplinary matters go.

I have to disagree with you, he got Hydes attn at the beginning of the year who was never even charged with a crime. Kenny Guiton was told he was gone after Meyer arrived if he didn't shape up and now has become a leader of the team and the 2nd best QB in the B10.

 

Marcus Hall is a turd that's just the way it is. He comes from a program that had produced some turds, same program UK is dying to get into. Tress wouldn't have done much differently given it was such an emotional/rivalry game. Maybe he suspends him a half or doesn't start him against State, Meyer could do the same but it still wouldn't please anyone to he honest. Because if OSU wins people will say he wasn't needed anyway.
