Had they came at him and insulted him with a contract offer and he left next summer Kobe would be getting killed for that also. No win situation for him. Anybody that says they wouldn't do the same thing in a similar situation is a liar.

My point has been the entire time that no contender was going to pay Kobe what the Lakers are paying him. That is why it's a bad business move. If Kobe chose to go to a losing team then he looks bad chasing money. Kobe is going to make less money than he did this year but he is going to make way more money than any contending team was willing to pay him outside LA. Listen if Lakers win the Title I'll eat crow. When they struggle to make a top 8 I'll expect you guys to do the same.

You telling me that if Lebron and Kobe decided to team up in (name a city) that they wouldn't get paid and that they wouldn't contend for a title? None of us are saying the Lakers will win a title or even contend for one. All I am saying is that the Lakers did the smartest thing possible in this situation. The Lakers front office is the one saying they will contend for titles. All I am saying is that if they don't it won't be because of this contract.

It's Kobe and his agents job to max out what they can get. I just think this was a bad move from the Lakers stand point. Honest does anyone even the biggest Kobe lover really believe Kobe is worth 25 mill a season moving forward? This to me is worst than the Jeter deal because NBA has a cap. Let's say Kobe is worth 25 million and I concede that (which I won't) why would someone like Kobe who "claims" to be the ultimate competitor not take less money to bring in a better team.

Worth every penny. I asked earlier how much the Lakers have made as a franchise since 1996 when Kobe joined the Lakers. The Lakers make 200 million a year from their Time Warner contract. Kobe will have made 320 million as a Laker by the time his career is over. All as a Laker. Yes. Kobe has been and will have been worth every penny the Lakers paid him over his 20 year career.
