Yes. Worth every penny. I asked earlier how much the Lakers have made as a franchise since 1996 when Kobe joined the Lakers. The Lakers make 200 million a year from their Time Warner contract. Kobe will have made 320 million as a Laker by the time his career is over. All as a Laker. Yes. Kobe has been and will have been worth every penny the Lakers paid him over his 20 year career.

Let's say Kobe is worth 25 million and I concede that (which I won't) why would someone like Kobe who "claims" to be the ultimate competitor not take less money to bring in a better team.

I won't be surprised either way. The injury he had is devestating, even more so in my mind than Rose's injury from last year. I could see a lot of different scenarios. That is the only reason I wouldn't of pulled the trigger yet. That and I just don't trust the current Laker owner.

Barkley was killing Kobe for this contract on PTI Tuesday. Those of you defending him that's fine, but it doesn't make it any less true that this doesn't help his cause for a 6th ring. He took the money, great, but if he tries to sell it as best for a title quest that's nonsense.

 

And to avoid massive hate from the Kobe supporters, I don't blame him for taking the money, but I personally think it ends any chance of a 6th title.

I understand why they did the deal both Kobe and the Lakers but I do think it's a bad deal that hinders them the next 2 years. Time will tell though.

Lakers don't have a roster next year its why every penny counts.
