Final ..

Great defensive effort by the Cardinals..

Great defense tonight by the Cards. Cold and blustery , Rville never once came close to scoring. Trajon Bright looked good in relief of Mills and was a nice change of pace out of the backfield. This was a total team win tonight against a hardnosed football team.

Not sure what the final stats were, as, Russellville did have 1 drive where they picked up a couple of 1st downs in the 2nd half, but, other than that, they pretty much were stymied by the Cardinal D. I'd venture to say, they held them to 20-30 total yards on the night, if not less. The Panther D was also very good, making it tough on the Cards all game long and keeping them in it, just couldn't generate any offense to go along with it. It was a tough, hard fought game by both teams. Once Mayfield got up by 3 scores, they went to that ground game and ate a ton of clock in the 4th quarter and even though they didn't score in the 4th, pretty much had there way and took a knee at the 9 yard line in the waning seconds of the game. That OL did what they've pretty much done all year, won it in the trenches and wore the Panther D out in the late stages.

The game was no where near as close as the score, Mf really dominated

No surprises here, Mayfield doing what Mayfield does.

Looking forward to seeing what Frankfort brings to the table. I still think Russellville is 2nd to Mayfield in class A. They are just in the unfortunate position of being in Mayfield's district.

Great game for the cardinal defense. Russelville had 3 first downs for the game. Congrats to the cardinals.

Congrats to Mayfield on the W, good luck in the semi's.

Russellville is so one dimensional that IMO they are not a top 5 team. Good defense. Nothing else.

It was clearly evident that it hurt Russelville to be without one of their best players (number eight)...he did play in the game, but was a non-factor. That left them with their QB as their main weapon, and he is not a passer...game was over right there. Cardinal D is in championship form...offense is still trying to adjust to Jackson not being in there. Trajan had a great game...great to see that! Got to get ready for another tough opponent next week.

What's the status on Deion for next week? He's the only real big play threat on the team. We've been fine thus far, but, it's nice to have a guy at WR and on k/o and punt returns with that take it to the house capability everytime he touches it.

I doubt you're giving the improved Mayfield defense enough credit. No one the remainder of the season will hold them anywhere close to 17 points. You'll need to check my comments in the game updates for my thoughts on R'ville's play calling.
