Courier-Journal Preseason Top 25

I'm looking forward to following the 9th from a distance this year. NCC's bigs are getting a lot of attention.

And rightfully so, but I think many think Beetle is such a huge advantage for Holmes, and he is. But NCC doesn't have a severe mismatch at the point. There's is solid.

I know many disagree, including the incomparable Walter, but I think Holmes is closer to CovCath than they are 9th #1 NewCath.

I have 9th Top 5 like this:

NewCath

Holmes

CovCath

Dixie

Boone Co

Would you have Cooper behind Boone?

I really like the Stanley kid from Boone.

I would rank NCC higher while saying that Holmes can beat NCC.

I've not seen either team, but this is what I would have guessed.

The Thomas Nelson I watched last weekend is not a top 25 team. They have some good players though if they pull it together.

I think they have the parts, but agree about the glue. Youngman will have to do a good job of getting the parts to mesh for sure.

I'm making Bolden kick the ball out to the perimeter as much as possible. Quan and Coston will be missed big time. Plus you lost Englemon who was a big challenge inside.

Holmes loves to run the high ball screen for him and you have to defend it well.

I make the 2 and 3 hit a few outside shots before I quit sagging off on Bolden.

I suppose I'd have Cooper 6th, but there is a lot of wait and see for me with the Jags.

I want to see Beetle this year.

But I want to see a lot of players this year.

Understood.

I like McNeil too.

Cooper is interesting and a "TBD" for me. Lost A LOT but still have McNeil and Hathorn. Boone returns every starter and Stanley has bulked up some and will be able to take more of a pounding this year. If he develops a J look out.

Bolden is REALLY good!! Much better shooter than he gets credit for, he isn't just a BMW.

Saw him a couple of times last year. Really, really liked how hard he worked.

My 9th region preview comes out Wed...I guess we will find out then what I think.....

The 33rd has a chance to be very interesting.

A key to Conner's season will be the development of Jr guard Nick Watts. Hemmerich will be a top scorer. Have to find someone inside to replace Drew Barker. Drew wasn't a consistent scorer but he was consistent in defense and rebounding. Andrew Way will have an impact as well.

Ryle returns a strong big man and a new coach.

The 33rd will be fun.

I'm sure it will be as objective as a ukfan1 6A preview. :jump:

Bolden almost single handedly beat Newcath last yeat during the regular season and dropped 26 on them in the region tourney. Ranking Holmes ahead of them because of him isn't a stretch.

Again, my region preview comes out Wed so everyone will know then what I think.
