Holmes 76 Scott County 69 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

Final

Scott Co led 34-32 at the half.

Holmes outscores them 44-35 in the second half.

From the updates I was getting, Chames really took over the down the stretch with big basket after big basket and I believe 8 of Holmes final 10 pts with under 2 mins left.

Chames finished with 25, while Bolden finished with 19.

Check that....

Bolden 25, Chames 19, McClendon 13

In regard to Holmes...How does this team compare to the 2007-2008 or 2008-2009 team? (Whichever won the state title.

That team had 2 legit D-1 players in Ricardo Johnson and Pittman. This team has one in Bolden. We will see

What does Scott Co have this season outside of the 7 footer?

They have the Ware kid that transferred from, I believe, Henry Clay as well as sophomore Tay Guyn (younger brother of UC PG Ge'Lawn Guyn) and one of the best scoring guards in the state in Trent Gilbert who single handedly beat Ryle last year with 47 points.

I think this team compares to the 2008 team a lot better than the teams that had Ricardo and Elijah.

This team is built to run, with athletes at every position and smaller bigs in a trio of 6'5 guys. (Chames, Hill, Avery)

The 2008 team had a D1 guard in Arrez Henderson and a lot of guys who understood their roles. If this team gets to that point (understanding their roles), they have the chance to be very good. They have depth, size, and experience. Legit top 10 team in the state.

Thanks for the info. Wish I could have taken this one in.

Bolden single handedly got Holmes off to a good start by outscoring SC 10-3 with two 3's and two lay ups in the first vBulletin 2:03.

Also heard Chames had two nice dunks with one being off sn alley oop from Bolden after a Mcclendon 3.

McClendon with two 3's snd 13 pts is a good start for the soph since a lot have questioned his ability to shoot from outside.

Underrated kid in my book. 9th Region fans should keep an eye on him. I'd take him on my squad any day.

Trent Gilbert (small 2G with an automatic jumper), Teddy Ware (kid who came from Henry Clay and is a top 25 in the 11th type), the longer Martini kid who started much of last year. I'd even argue that right now, Gilbert and Ware have bigger roles than Raekwon Long.

Dylan Portwood, Seth Crank, and Tay Guyn are some other kids to keep an eye on. Guyn was the only freshman on the varsity roster last year, and I don't know how far away he is in his development, but if he keeps working and keeps up with his projected development, everyone in the region will be well aware of him by his Senior year if I were guessing.

Even though it's a scrimmage, it was treated like a real game and I feel like his stat line tonight is something that will be a regular thing every night out.

Some don't realize how much he has improved since last season but I'm predicting they will be well aware of his progress very soon.

He was voted best athlete at the Bluechip came over the summer and his confidence is higher than ever right now.

Agee. He is the one that I picked out at State Tourney last year, that I really liked.

Great to hear this. He has a fan here. Love to watch this kid play. He does things that don't always show up in the stat line....that is what impressed me.

Scott County has a major issue at PG. Rumor has it that Gilbert will play that role. That will be interesting to see how that plays out. That is not his natural position and might take away some of his offense. Teddy Ware is a spot shooter and not much else. If Gilbert struggles to score, Scott County will struggle to score.

Scott County have any basketball guys still playing football?
