If he doesn't lose his job I don't know how a cop loses his job.

Shouldn't be clsoe to keeping it. Termination is a pretty easy call.

How is he not in jail?? If I kicked somebody in the head on the sidewalk, I'd go to jail in a heartbeat...

Even if they had just kicked you first? Nah you wouldn't be in jail if they struck you first.

Her "kick" hardly justifies his reaction...

He should not have kicked her in the head, maybe he could have just tasered her or pepper sprayed her. Would that have been OK?

If he doesn't do something does she continue to strike out against him or other officers?

If this was a 6'4" 250lb male that was striking out while handcuffed would this be a different situation? Would he have been terminated?

Maybe, but maybe it was one of those straight on the bone shin kicks that we've all felt and the immediate pain hit and he just reacted. Does she continue and escalate the situation if they don't stop her? I'm not justifying the kick just wondering what would have be an acceptable way of stopping her?

She was in cuffs, behind her back, sitting on the ground. He takes one step back, it's a non-issue after the first one. Charge her with assault on a police officer.

Are you really defending a man kicking a woman in the head who is handcuffed sitting on the ground? Jail would be to good for this chump. You don't strike a woman period.

Yes.

Step away, it's a non-issue.

Situation doesn't change, IMO. No justification for kicking a detained, sitting individual, in the head.

I guarantee you any man who wasn't a cop who was caught on video kicking a woman in the head who was in a positon not to defend herself would be doing time.

I'm just asking would this be looked at differently if it was a man sitting there kicking at police officers.

Unfortunately Police Officers can't always be so chivalrous, women are struck by police officer everyday. In my limited experience with criminals (400 -500 arrest) I have seen far more women fight and try to escape than I have men.

It's not about man vs. woman for me. My opinion wouldn't change if it were a man in cuffs.

Deuce I get what your saying, set back and she can't kick you again. You go to get her up and she kicks again or head butts you, would it be OK to use a Taser at that point on her to control her or strike her in some way to subdue her.

Again I AM NOT DEFENDING the officer just asking what action would be OK when dealing with someone in this situation.
