I understand what you are saying about UT, but there were many (not necessarily you) that thought the first time a "Big Time" program came knocking, Charlie would bolt. He didn't. When it comes to the coaching carousel, I think anything is possible. I would be extremely surprised if Strong left Louisville for another college program, though.

 

I understand. I was never sure he'd leave, but I would be interested to see how he responded to Florida, South Carolina, Texas, USC and maybe a couple others. He's not leaving for just anyone, if anyone at all. But I do wonder what his interest in the NFL would be.

Yeah, I honestly have no idea what his interest would be for the NFL.

Folks its my understanding UT was a done deal. His family had began packing there bags. Then UT fumbled in the end and Charlie backed out.

Jurich won't be outbid by any college program. He can't compete, in terms of money, with the NFL.

 

If Texas sets their sights on Charlie Jurich might as well put the check book back in his pocket.

I agree. Just stating the obvious problems that exist by basing the entire argument, "are there are enough minority coaches in football", strictly to head coaches, then it will always be a problem. Serious question, are there the same number of minority candidates that look to get in to coaching as white candidates?

 

There are institutional biases, not necessarily racist biases that exist in all walks of life. This is just another example.

The bolded is a good question. How many minorities go into coaching? I have no idea.

 

I know the finance industry was looking to increase minority hiring and they realized the greatest difficulty was that most students who persue finance or accounting are white and there really are so few minority candidates to chose from.

What I have been told Strong was upset that it goy out before he could get back to Louisville and talk with Jurich and the team. Once they leaked the info Strong became more concerned about his reputation of being a stand up guy. So to save face he stayed at UL.

Universities seem to have difficulty keeping things quiet lately. I recall Auburn's talking with Petrino leaking while their coach (Tubberville I think?) was still the head coach.
