December 29, 201312 yr Author Goes to show, if Silva wasn't a showboat when he lost the first time this would have never would have happened. One of the best ever but also one of the biggest punks out there. Won't be sad if this was his last fight. Just because he clowns the way he does doesn't make him a "punk". It is strategy, he is very cerebral when it comes to fighting. He is actually a good dude, hate to see anybody go out like that. Now if you're talking punks then we are talking the Diaz brothers and Mike Ricci (although I've kind of grown to like the Diaz's)
December 29, 201312 yr I think the bigger what if is what if they had called the fight after Weidman rocked him in the first round? I thought it was pretty close right after that. But if it's called them, it's another bad loss, but would it have been the end of Silva like this is?
December 29, 201312 yr The broken leg was so nasty and sad. Love seeing double R win her bout Jim Miller looked very good, again.
December 29, 201312 yr I really wish I could get into watching this sport. I respect everything about it (and, wrestling for that matter). I constantly surprise myself and others that I don't.

Now if you're talking punks then we are talking the Diaz brothers and Mike Ricci (although I've kind of grown to like the Diaz's) My brother is acquainted w/ the youngest Diaz through training at El Ninos. He said that he is just a quiet guy. He answers questions that will help you, but isn't going out of his way to help train anyone. He keeps to himself, sort of a socially awkward type. The oldest is the same way and enjoys Ironman training and endurance training over MMA. Just different guys who want to fight and not play to the media or politics of a fighting organization. That doesn't bode well for a fighting future, but they battle when they are out there, so they'll continue to get signed.

Yeah like I said I used to not even be able to stand them but after watching Nick on Rogans podcast and giving them a fair chance over the years I actually like them now. They do showcase some classless punk behavior from time to time though. Kind of like Fox having to cut away from one of Nate's live fights because he kept flipping off his opponent and the crowd. Again I kind of like the dudes now but they still display some punk behavior from time to time.
January 4, 201412 yr I watched the entire fight last night and it seems apparent to me that Silva was well behind when this unfortunate injury occurred. Silva may be a victim of his own success. Time won't stand still for anyone.

January 6, 201412 yr They had fought one round, how was he "well behind"? Fight was near stoppage in the first. Silva just didn't show the normal confidence or control as he has in the past. Being down a round so convincingly is not a guarantee of loss but its not like it is a 15 round boxing match.

Being down a round so convincingly is not a guarantee of loss but its not like it is a 15 round boxing match. I thought Silva looked a little more comfortable in the 2nd round. While I agree he lost the first round, it wasn't a 10-8 round, so I don't really think he was "well behind". I'm probably just being picky with words though...he was definitely behind.
February 1, 201412 yr Author Stacked card tonight.... Faber vs. Barao for Banatmweight Title Aldo vs. Llamas for Featherweight Title Mir vs. Overeem Jamie Varner vs. Abil Trujillo and a good Flyweight fight I can't remember. Should be a great night of fights to kick off Super Bowl weekend! Hoping Faber finally gets that UFC belt, one of the best light weight fighters in history so it would only be right. Barao is an animal though, should be a good fight.
February 1, 201412 yr What is the fighting style of Barao? Faber doesn't do well against a strong kicker.
February 1, 201412 yr Author What is the fighting style of Barao? Faber doesn't do well against a strong kicker. Pretty well rounded but he likes to swarm. He's got big power in his punches and sometimes he can just overwhelm his opponent with them. Can also take it to the ground and grapple. His striking is high level so you could expect a dose of leg kicks (although the silva fight may have fighters thinking twice), like you said Faber has had his bad luck with them (Aldo fight). Should be an awesome fight though. Faber is on fire but Barao is still the favorite.
