October 11, 201313 yr This has been discussed a couple of times on here, however the past couple of days my anger has been elevated to levels that could incite "road rage". :rage: The "nightmare" I speak of is the traffic surrounding the intersection at the light on Carothers at the Newport Pavilion. When Dick's and the rest of the businesses open it's only going to get worse. It is an ABSOLUTE JOKE, with the back-ups that occur at this intersection. There is DEFINITELY a need for a right turn ONLY lane onto Carothers. Who are the "brain surgeons" that designed this "traffic fail"????? City of Newport. :idunno:
October 11, 201313 yr I thought I read somewhere that they are putting a right turn lane in eventually? Patience, my friend. On a bright note, 471 will be completed this weekend!!! Beginning at 8 PM on Friday, October 11th, 2013; traffic restrictions will be in place on I-471 SB for final resurfacing beginning on the I-471/Daniel Carter Beard Bridge, extending through the I-275 Interchange. At 10 PM Friday night, traffic will be further reduced to a single lane until 6 AM Monday morning, October 14th. The entrance and exit ramps throughout the corridor may be closed at various times while I-471 SB is surfaced in front of the ramps. Detours will not be posted; drivers are encouraged to use the next ramp. Long delays will be apparent on the I-471 corridor. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes. Please use caution, REDUCE SPEED, and watch for traffic control devices, equipment and crews along the work zone. · Ramp Closures will also be in effect on the I-471 Southbound corridor during nighttime periods throughout the week of October 8th thru October 11th. The ramp closures will occur after 10 PM to allow the ramps to be surfaced. Closures will be intermittent and last several hours. Detours will not be posted; drivers are encouraged to use the next ramp. The schedule for closures will be as follows: - Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 - Grand Avenue (KY 1892) Entrance Ramp will be periodically closed after 10 PM. - Wednesday, October 9th, 2013 - Grand Avenue (KY 1892) Entrance Ramp will be periodically closed after 10 PM. - Thursday, October 10th, 2013 - Memorial Parkway (KY 1120) Entrance Ramp will be periodically closed after 10 PM.

I absolutely love Chick-fila but until they get that fixed I will more than likely not be making another visit. It's too big of a pain. 471 has been great this week, so I'm really ready for them to put the finishing touches on it.

It's too big of a pain. 471 has been great this week, so I'm really ready for them to put the finishing touches on it. You would have to have your head examined to make that "fateful" turn into Chick-fail-A. At least 4 or 5 times I had planned on stopping there after picking the girls up after practice or coming home from a volleyball game.......but keep right on driving past because I WILL NOT contend with the traffic. I figure I've saved about $50-$60 so that's a plus. :thumb: :lol2:

October 11, 201313 yr Go down Chesapeake turn left onto the feeder road for Target and Kroger . Turn right into Chik-fil-let go straight behind the new Chipoltle and BW3 . Turn left towards La Rosas and exit onto Carothers from the La Rosas lot . Eazy Peazy
October 11, 201313 yr I work at the Verizon that just opened up and the traffic is constantly awful there. It is terrible down there at peak hours. I have seen numerous times where the traffic line is past the kroger gas station.
October 12, 201313 yr I heard that was the place where heroin was being used , it must be a bigger issue than we thought if it is causing LB to take more than 5 minutes to get high on the hill from his house.:lol2:
October 12, 201313 yr Went through there this afternoon. Maybe they shoul at least put a right only onto Carothers out of the BWs lot. It's gonna be a nightmare when all those places open up.
October 14, 201313 yr To start the right lane can't be used as the straight lane into where the new Verizon store is. The right lane should be "Right" turn only and the left lane should be treated as such. Just my opinion!

October 14, 201313 yr I have said this for over a year now and agree 100%. If this isn't addressed very soon Christmas time is going to be a disaster. Not sure what other solution there was but using this already sad situation as a detour for the 471 repaving project was a poor decision. Whoever did that should of been fired!
