October 10, 201313 yr Racial Slur Turns Into $10k Tip First off, how pathetic is it that people like this customer still exist? What is accomplished by acting this way? To the main point I wanted to address, $10,000??? Really? It seems like these kind of fundraisers are happening all the time. Is that really the solution to every incident, give the victims money? Wasn't there a bus-driver that received hundreds of thousands of dollars that were raised because they simply did their job in the past year or so? I seem to recall something like that, but can't recall the specifics.
October 10, 201313 yr I'm , sadly, NOT shocked someone wrote that. I do think that $10k is "just a bit much." Very nice of the people though.

October 10, 201313 yr I think it's great that people want to contribute. It might make the idiots who want to pull this garbage think twice if it gets publicity and they see that the person is coming out ahead. People just want to show support for her.
October 10, 201313 yr The bus monitor abused by the middle school students ended up with over $700,000 last I heard. Tax free.
October 10, 201313 yr The bus monitor was one of the saddest stories I have seen this year....that woman was as verbally brutalized as you can be. Hope those parents aren't wearing their love goggles any longer.

When she posted the receipt, she probably thought it'd get a few "pick me up" lines from her friends, have some others share in her frustrations, and that'd be it. She'd go to work again the next day. What ended up happening is that her life probably hasn't been the same since, and because of the internet and a simple search of her name, that event is going to define her life (if nothing else, at least for quite some time). What happened to her wasn't right, and for all of the attention it's gotten, $10,000 really isn't all that much. Do you think she's been able to live recently without looking over her shoulder quite frequently, or that she could go back to work and do her job like she did before? Finding new employment with that kind of thing surrounding you? Good luck.

Me thinks Dustin so-and-so better be careful around Jackson, TN. Can't say I'll donate to his hospital fund when his ignorance catches up with him....
October 15, 201313 yr The question I have is who set up the account to contribute to for the Red Lobster waitress? If it was the waitress it just smells fishy...excuse the pun
October 15, 201313 yr The bus driver deserved every dime $700K for being yelled at by a bunch of kids? Not a chance. That said if people wanted to donate it was their money, more power to them. But to say she deserved every time is way off.
October 15, 201313 yr The question I have is who set up the account to contribute to for the Red Lobster waitress? If it was the waitress it just smells fishy...excuse the pun Seems like I read it was quite a surprise to her.
October 15, 201313 yr The question I have is who set up the account to contribute to for the Red Lobster waitress? If it was the waitress it just smells fishy...excuse the pun It clearly states in the article that Matthew Hanson, founder of AddictingInfo.org, heard Jenkins' story & started an online fundraiser for her called "Tips for Toni" that collected $10,749 within 72 hours.
October 16, 201313 yr $700K for being yelled at by a bunch of kids? Not a chance. That said if people wanted to donate it was their money, more power to them. But to say she deserved every time is way off. Wait, that lady ended up with $700,000? I knew she got a tidy little sum but I didn't think it was THAT much. Hey, I had a couple of kids give me attitude at basketball practice the other night. If she got 700 large, surely I deserve 7 or $8,000 at least? Dang, somebody start me an account, QUICK! Ok, it was peoples own money that they contributed...good for them and good for her. But man, that's just a little bit out there. I think the better solution would have been for those little hoodlums to have their butts beat, locked up in juvie for a little while, MADE to do about 500 hrs of community service AND made to pay a fine directly to her of a few thousand dollars. And for this Red Lobster chick? Again, it's peoples own money, they can do what the want with it, but again just seems a little crazy to me.
