BTW I am taking full credit for this victory. First home game I couldn't make it all the way up to my normal seat. Tonight I toughed it out and made it, took me 5-10 minutes to recover, but I made it all the way up there. I am convinced that me making it to my lucky seat made the difference tonight and being too weak to make it the last home game cost us that game.

Caldwell is the #1 2A Team in the State... I don't think any 2A team will stay within 2 TD's of them... but they are the product of a weak class and a weak schedule. They are not the State Powerhouse you are valuing then as.... YET.

 

Next year may be a different story.

 

This year is the year of the Tiger in 2A. Next year my Tigers will be great, but they lose 3 olime players that have started 4 years, and that is a huge loss, but I appreciate the nice comment, sir.

Stidham is a generational talent and I am impressed with Caldwell's depth for a 2A team. I am critical of Caldwell's schedule as I think they have the potential to be a special team but that schedule certainly isn't pushing them to improve by any means.

 

But back on topic, I still expect Somerset to be the team squaring off with NewCath come the Semi-Finals... Middlesboro is impressive thusfar, but I still think the Jackets are vulnerable on defense and their lack of a really tough schedule could bite them come playoff time when the nerves are high.

 

Somerset needs a healthy Lange, a way to keep Doan on the field as a playmaker (maybe the slot?), and more consistency hitting Cheuvront with their intermediate game if they hope to contend for a chance at BG.

If Lange is healthy I think the plan is for him to be the one that plays all over in the offense. Doan will still get plenty of touches out of the backfield with Lange playing a lot of receiver.

My Tigers would score 42-50 on anyone in the state not named Bowling Green, Trinity or Highlands. Could Pulaski County or Belfry keep up? Do they have the conditioning to keep up? I think not. Somerset did awesome tonight, and I believe, they have righted their ship.

 

Have you seen Pulaski or Belfry in person? While I haven't seen Caldwell County except on film I have seen those other 2 teams as well as the Newport Catholic team that beat your Tigers in the finals last season. Both Belfry and Pulaski are at least 21 points better than that team. Add in the long trip to Belfry and yes, I think the Maroons and Pirates could keep up with your Tigers. I think Caldwell is the favorite in 2A and will won it if they stay healthy but there are way more than 3 teams in the state that can hold them under 42 points.

This was the first time this year I have seen somerset in person. I knew they had played some tough teams and had alot of injuries. Glasgow looked off sink most of the night and that could have been due to somerset playing very well. Somerset will be in the hunt come playoff time for sure especially if they play as well as they did last night. Was there a post on this forum or maybe a different one about the refs at a somerset game being terrible because there was calls on both football teams that were awful? for example offensive face mask on glasgow QB? The somerset interception and the ref blowing the whistle? The pass interference in the endzone? Both teams shouldve had personel fouls called most of the night then they would call them on stupid stuff, then not knowing were to spot the ball? Overall Nice showing for Somerset and Glasgow still has some work to do. Good luck to the Briar Jumpers rest of the season would love to see you guys playing at WKU.
