Scott 50 Newport 0

43-0 at half.

I guess Scott's schedule was good enough. Congrats to the eagles on a convincing win.

I thought the "running clock" started when a team was up by 43. Why did they start the running clock when Scott was up by 36 in the 2nd qtr?

Gotcha! For some reason I was thinking the rule was changed the other way from 36 to 43. Thanks for the answer.

I guess Scott's schedule was good enough. .

Good enough for what?

Unfortunately, I am afraid this schedule won't fully prepare Scott for districts. They knew they had the talent this year, why play teams that you crush. The regular season in my opinion is to prepare for the post season. This game does not benefit Scott at all. On the up side though 4-0 for the first time in school history.

Overall I agree. However, when your program has struggled for DECADES starting 4-0 gets some excitement going which is always a good thing.

In the prediction thread I had mentioned Scott would win by 5 touchdowns and pigskin junkie ripped on me saying they had played a weak schedule.

Honestly though everyone Scott has lost to schools like Newport and Holmes alot so regardless of the schedule they are beating teams badly that have knocked them off in the past. Scott is notorious for 2-8 and 3-7 seasons where they have got drilled by Highlands and Cov Cath and lost one point games to Grant Co and Holmes. So to me the schedule part is irrelevant. They have a talented football team this year. Enjoy the 4-0 Start. Everyone get on board. :thumb:

Josh Castleman- 8 carries 124 yards with 3 scores. Solid night from the senior RB.

I give Scott a pass on their schedule. When you have been a doormat as many seasons as they have, you schedule as many chances to win games as possible. If it works out that you are the beneficiary of a few blowouts in a particular (this) year, so be it.

Creating some excitement around the school for football should be the goal. 4-0 should do that. Good for Scott.

Winning seven or so games a year will get the kids to buy in. Then when you have established some continuity of success, you amp up the schedule a little.
