CovCath with Wags vs. CovCath without Wags?

Featured Replies

How much lesser of a team is CCH without their injured QB? A little? A lot? No difference? Better?

Put me in the little camp for now.

Everyone?

If Sam Dressman is going to QB, I think it is impossible to tell.

If Ben Dressman is going to QB, CovCath isn't as good as they were week #0.

My opinion.

IMO the only answer is "considerably less" against good teams.

What about Sam's replacement if he moves to QB?

Winner!

We officially have an objective CovCath fan!

That's why I said "considerably less." You can't evaluate this without also considering that Bir is also out. So you move Sam (your best all-around weapon) to QB and now you've got TWO big holes to fill offensively.

In their defense most schools could not handle this either. There aren't many sophomore QBs like PT waiting to take over for a top-notch team.

How about lending a hand in the 4A ranking thread?

I think CCH has to make some schematic changes. Dressman is a serious threat running the ball and that is now their best weapon. Shorten some of the passing routes, more screens etc. Still haven't don't know Bir's mysterious status.

I think what a lot of people are forgetting is the fact that if Dressman was moving to QB and Bir was healthy it really wouldn't be as big of an issue as it is with the fact now you lose your 2 best RB's due to the Bir injury also.

So what is bigger, the QB injury or the fact that you lose Dressman and Bir from your RB corp?

I think losing Bir is bigger than some are admitting so far.

This question was likely covered in another thread, but are the injuries to Wagner & Bir season-ending or less?

Honestly from what I've been told Wags is back for the last 2-3 reg season games, Bir maybe sooner. Depends on who you talk to and I am not Coach Wirth.

To answer the thread question, I say no difference. To a program like CovCath, their are plent of B.B.I.T.'s over in Park Hills and they have plenty of quality athletes that can fill in.

As to the bolded, why would one have to shorten routes and throw screens?

The Blueboys will be just fine, it will make them a better team down the road...:thumb:

Because Dressman isn't your true dropback passer slinging a 20 yard spiral on a post pattern. Think Tebow. They will tailor it to what works best for him and that offense for now.

Cov Cath doesn't throw the ball downfield very often anyway, so they don't have to worry about taking the downfield passes out of the offense. CCH loves the short routes like quick outs, slants, etc. If Dressman has a strong enough arm and quick enough release to get the ball to the sideline, he should be just fine.
