Football trumps baseball, and it ain't close.

Football for a specific team may trump baseball for a specific team...and you may say football in general may trump baseball in general...but, no way football in general trumps baseball for a specific team. At least not when said baseball team is in a pennant race.

Joey Votto on his skid: I genuinely do not have a single explanation for it | Cincinnati Reds

Joey Votto called me over today and wanted the bad news.

“What kind of run am I on?” he asked.

“You’re 0-for-10, 2-for-20, 3-for-34,” I said. “How far to do you want to go back?”

“As far as you’ve got,” he said.

“You’re hitting .186 since Aug. 10,” I said.

“That’s bad this for time of year — any time of year,” he said.

Votto cannot explain why he’s in the worst slump of his career. His average has gone from .325 on Aug. 10 to .301 going into tonight’s game.

“I genuinely do not have a single explanation for it,” he said. “I feel really good at the plate. And I honestly I don’t understand it. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

Votto has no use for amateur hitting coaches.

It's not funny, but that dialogue is pretty funny. They will start to fall--Votto will be fine.

Baseball trumps football when the Cardinals are playing. If not then I would watch football.

Cingrani gets out of first with no damage. Reds coming to bat in the first.

Cards player just struck out swing at a high fastball out of the zone.

And we get a run out of it. Well done Tony!!
