This will be one tough game.

Tilghman has lost 7 straight to Mayfield and they have the team that can win this game.

They will pull out their full arsenal to win.

Mayfield had better shore up their defense or it could be a long night.

The Cards can score on just about anybody so that shouldn't be a problem,

we just need a little better defensive effort.

I pick the Cards because they are usually a better disciplined team.

Interesting matchup. Tilghman is more athletic. Mayfield better coached and more fundamentally sound. Mayfield's defense will have a hard time stopping Tilghman though so this may be a 42 to 38 game. Mayfield looked as unathletic as I have seen them in a long time and yet they are still a very good team. I'll take Mayfield in a fairly close one also.

On another note it sounds like Coach Wyatt is already ducking future games with McCracken after next year as they already lose to Mayfield every year as it stands. That's a shame because that was some atmosphere at the first one.

I think Mayfield matches up pretty well. Tilghman's D is faster than McCrackens and they'll likely get more pressure on Guhy than what the Mustangs did. With that said, I like Mayfield's O a lot and they'll utilize that quick passing game to move the chains and then draw the D in and hit them with the longer passes. The biggest thing about PT, they likely won't give up as big a yardage on those short passes as MC did and I think the Cards will have a hard time running the ball against them. On the flipside, I don't think PTs O is as strong as MCs was and if they don't score at least 4-5 times, I don't think they can win this game. I expect Mayfield's D to get better each week and they may not be hitting on all cylinders yet, but, I do think they play well enough to pull this one out.. Mayfield 31 PTilghman 21.

I like the way Mf matches up a little better than I did against McCracken Co also but they are clearly more athletic than we are but as mentioned they are usually alot more mistake prone than Mf. I think they will have to gamble using their speed to keep pressure on Jake Guhy. If Mayfield can get out early with a bit of a lead we will be okay but if things go badly early we are in trouble. Same as last week we will be having to hang on for dear life. Cards in a close one but PT is due in this series.

Saturday morning I was on the road driving and caught the Tilghman coaches show and Wyatt could not have been any more complimentry of Mf and noted what Mf has always done with so few numbers is amazing. Tilghman will still be without the services of one of their studs who got ejected against McCracken. This one will be another barn burner most likely. Mf's chances are better if the PT qb is a little off like he was against Reitz Friday. Coach Wyatt talked about that some as well and said its just part of the learning curve.

Just some random thoughts...

The comment was made in an earlier post that PT is more athletic...I agree. But, that is nothing new...they almost always are. Some of the scariest high school players I have ever seen played for the Big Blue Tornado...and we still didn't flinch. This one, like many before it, probably will be close just because it is the rivalry that it is.

Mayfield has proven in this seven year dominance that they are much more disciplined than Tilghman, and it has made a huge difference. We also have played great defense, and it is in this area where we will be tested. I have great respect for the Blue Tornado and realize that we can lose this game...but I am going to Pick the Big Red to win a close one...one of those close games where discipline can be a deciding factor...Mayfield 38 PT 31

This maybe the year PT stops the streak.

Mayfield 27-21.

All week long the local news will be doing special reports on the Mayfield vs Paducah 100th meeting.

Mayfield alums still get excited about "Tilghman Week"

Nice...Cant wait till Saturday. I look forward to this every year. Mayfield is Mayfield again this year. PT will have to play perfect to win and get the monkey off their back. With Our #! back and linebacker out, its going to be a tough game for PT. Hopefully home field helps.

I would agree, they certainly could and this is the best chance they have had in a couple years. I don't think it would suprise anyone if they do and alot of us Cards have come to expect a win in this one which is further dangerous

Smash we may counter as Kendall got a concussion Friday against McCracken Co

Still Guyh(sp?) is one of the best high school QB I have seen and can control the game. Good luck and I hope everyone stays healthy. Looking forward to a great contest. Our O has got to come up with 3-4 scores and our D has to shut down the screen game to win.

Tilghman leads the all-time series 46-43. There have been 10 ties.

Mayfield has won seven in a row, the longest winning streak by either team

They have played every year since 1921.

Debends on who's records you use, the media tends to use Tilghman record and Mayfield's is different
