August 29, 201313 yr Any truth to him being blackballed from the SEC? I heard and read that when his name was being floated around for both UK and UT.
August 29, 201313 yr He gets paid to win games. He doesn't get paid to be a Super Hero. The minute we start thinking College athletics is about the mighty $$$. NCAA sports exploits kids daily. So why should we hold Coaches to a higher standard that the organization running it?
August 29, 201313 yr Author Bobby Petrino..........A complete pin head / pitiful excuse for a human being. Not a bad coach but that in no way over rides the pathetic human being that is Bobby Petrino. I wouldn't put it past the "so called" man that if he should get another offer during this season that he would resign and go. Yes, he's done that before as well. I realize that Petrino is a very good offensive football coach but why WKU or anyone else would hire him I have no idea. Should he stab WKU in the back, they knew what he was and would deserve it. But because he's done that before, I'd imagine that the buyout clauses in his contracts, his severance packages, etc. have been greatly modified from what they would have been otherwise. This would be especially true given his lack of bargaining power at the table following his latest dust-up. He could still do something to break the contract, but it probably wouldn't be very smart of him to do so. Really do agree with the sentiment of your last line though.
August 30, 201313 yr I think it looks bad either way. It looks bad that Western Kentucky took him. He abused his power in his position, broke state laws, and has very questionable morals. When you choose a person to lead your young people who is like this, you are the condoner of this, and you too are the same.

I realize that Petrino is a very good offensive football coach but why WKU or anyone else would hire him I have no idea. Should he stab WKU in the back, they knew what he was and would deserve it. WKU wouldn't be too upset from what I hear. They got him for little money and apparently there is a pretty nice buy out penalty. If he jumps that means they had a nice year which should attract some capable coaches.
January 9, 201412 yr Here's one for some hypothetical debate: ASSUME the following: 1. Charlie Strong wins a BCS game at Louisville this year, capping off a 1 loss season. 2. Mack Brown retires from the University of Texas. 3. Charlie Strong is hired by the University of Texas, leaving Louisville. 4. You are Louisville's AD. - As Louisville's AD, is Petrino brought up in your coaching search? - If Petrino is brought up, where do you put him on your list of candidates? - Plan A? Plan B? Plan C? Plan J? Boom pretty much Nailed it!!! Except for BCS game for Strong!
January 10, 201412 yr Bump this back up. Post #10 was a pretty good hypothetical. You got any hypothetical lottery numbers???
January 10, 201412 yr You got any hypothetical lottery numbers??? No kidding. Read this thread from the start, got to that post and blew my mind. Of course I'm half drunk but still...
January 10, 201412 yr Now you know - Plan A. It may have been Plan AAA. Interesting tid-bits - Petrino and Jurich remained in contact, especially during BP's year off. - Petrino kept UL memorabilia on prominent display at his Arkansas house. - The Petrino family never left Louisville. - Jurich helped get Petrino the job at WKU. - There is a clause in Petrino's WKU contract that the hiring school has to agree to a home and home series. Looking at all these factors the return of BP should not be so shocking.
