Running a fake punt late in the 4th quarter of a 3-score game.

 

I thought it was pretty slick. I've never seen that before.

I dont mind the fake punt call , but from that field position with that score to call that type of fake --- that was not classless IT WAS STUPID . The punter punts it to a wide out ?? wow

 

It's only stupid when it doesn't work. Best time to catch a team is when they least expect it, right?

Yeah, it was a well conceived play. I never knew that was legal.

If the game was over then why was it okay for Tenyer to have his offensive starters in and throw it on every down? If he was satisfied the game was over shouldn't he have subbed and ran the ball to run out the clock? You can't have it both ways. If it is okay for MSU to try and score to get back in the game then it is okay for EKU to try and score to make sure they don't. And like I said before, now EIU has something else to have to prepare for next week.

Let's not act like this was a 70-0 beat down. If MSU got the ball back they absolutely would have left their starters in and thrown it on every down then onside kicked if they had scored. Morehead played last season's 8-3 team to a 7 point game at EKU. It's an in-state rivalry and it is usually a decently close game although EKU has won like 26 out of 27 or something like that. I'm sure the Colonels were overlooking the Eagles somewhat and, after MSU took it on the chin vs Pikeville that's understandable. A couple of self-inflicted turnovers kept it closer than it should have been as well.

MSU had scholarship players for almost all of those games. They've only played 3 times since MSU went non-scholarship.

Still says a lot. I'd love to see MSU offer scholarships again at some point and be competitive but I just don't see it happening.

It's about as bad as folks who know nothing about Tenyer or the situation calling him classless.

Your head coach was still throwing on every down trying to score. Why is it okay for him to try to score garbage time points but not for the Colonels reserves? If you don't like it stop them. For the record, it wasn't just your reserves in the game. Those last two touchdowns were scored by Jared Sanders and Thomas Owens--they had 7 combined carries in the game, all but one on the last 2 drives. The reserve offensive linemen and quarterback were in as well. Don't throw it on every down trying to make the score look better and then cry when the other team doesn't take a knee with their reserves playing. As for the fake punt: The Colonels have an extremely difficult game next week at Eastern Illinois. That probably isn't a play you want to try for the first time (if at all) in a one score game. By trying it, and pulling it off they gave EIU something to have to prepare for instead of scheming to try and block the punt or set up returns. If it hurt your feelings well...get over it. I didn't see your coach just handing it off trying to run out the clock at that point.

EIU will not look twice at that lame play....they will be concentrating on other plans......not worried about a play that will never happen again in the history of college football.......enjoy the laugh and good luck with teams that actually have scholarships to compete against.......Tenyer did let the EKU staff know after the game about the bush league play and I'm glad....
