August 22, 201313 yr Author Heyward is a crucial piece to the Braves and was having huge success for them from the leadoff spot. The postseason is basically a done deal, but this really damages their chances of finishing with the best record, and may even put them in danger of having homefield in the NLDS. Not to mention who knows what Heyward will be like when he comes back. The only player I would less like to lose would be Freddie Freeman, and Andrelton Simmons right behind J-Hey. Just an awful thing to happen.

I just remember he was an extremely highly touted prospect when he came up, and, from an outside perspective at least, it seems he's disappointed a bit. I get he's still only 24, but with nearly 4 full seasons under his belt, I simply thought he'd be more than what he is. :idunno:

Second season was marred by injury. in Overall I'm glad he's a Braves player. He may not have lived up to some of the higher expectations thus far but in the leadoff spot he has excelled as a hitter. I hope he signs a long-term deal with the Braves.

If you've been watching the recent games he's made some spectacular plays in the outfied and has run the bases well. I'm very concened abiut his absence.

His rookie season was pretty good. He has been fantastic of late this year, but he's missed a lot of time for an appendectomy and now a broken jaw. I think if he was healthy he would have surpassed last years numbers this year. With all that, he's very good in the outfield.

August 25, 201313 yr This injury hurt the Reds big time. The Braves aren't that good on the road anyways. Having Heyward definitely would have helped but I don't think they would have won the STL series with him.

This is the first series they have lost in over a month, they have been playing fairly well on the road. 10-5 since July 19th before this series, and they won each of those series. They may not have won but I'd guarantee a split. Heyward has been dominating in the leadoff spot, not having that offensive presence in the lineup definitely hurt, let's not act like it was BJ Upton or someone like that.

They're not bad, but I didn't expect them to go into STL and dominate, especially without Heyward.
