All-Time Series - Tied 2-2

This is the third straight year these two teams will meet. The Purples have won the last two years by an average of 16 points per game. Both of Lexington Catholic's wins came at the only neutral site games in the series.

Who wins this game? Thoughts?

Purples will set tone early for the rest of the state to take notice. Anyone can win on any given night but I think the Purples will have a chip on their shoulder knowing the rest of the commonwealth will be watching them. Catholic is a good club with a good program, I think they are going to hit Purples on the wrong night (wrong year). IMO: Purples 52 Catholic 14.

I know a lot of eyes will be on Fant, rightfully so but Devin Hayes, BG quarterback has had an unbelievable off-season run. Purples go to Dalton Georgia earlier this summer (more than 40 teams). Purples finish 3rd. Purples beat the team that won tournament. Haves played entire tournament against superior competition with no interceptions. Purples recently had inter-squad scrimmage goes for 18-19 2 TDs no interceptions. Last week against Manual Hayes plays 1 half throws 3 TDs (nearly 200 yards), rush TD and no picks. It will be interesting to see if his streak can continue.

I expect Catholic to have a great year, but a rough first night. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Good luck to all teams across the bluegrass - let the games begin

BG will roll big in this one. JMO

BG 48 LC 17

Purples continue the streak.

BG - 35

Lex Cath - 21

I would love to see it go just like you say, Purple Nation, but Lexington Catholic is not a pushover, by any means. They have played the Purples as well as anybody the last couple of years. I believe Bowling Green will win, but not by 38 points. I do like your passion for the Purples though.

I put LexCath on the board in voting. But that goes with heart - not with the head.

As noted above the Knights played the Purples pretty well last year but the Knights showed some rough edges last Friday with the about 50% new starters. I think BG returns a better portion of starters and are likely in a better place early in the season.

These teams have a lot of similar characteristics in style. One thing is for certain - this will not be a game of two 'ground and pound' teams. Offenses for both sides will likely air it out a lot.

If BG wins this game huge you may as well begin to call me PurplePride#1Fan.

Just saying.....:D

This game will be the last time the last of the original 2009 FBU Middle School All-Americans from Kentucky will share the same field.

Kentucky sent 9 eighth graders and 3 seventh graders to the inaugural FBU All-America Bowl that in San Antonio in conjunction with the U.S. Army All-America Bowl for high school seniors.

There were a lot snide remarks about Kentucky having so many players and a lot of doubters. But all 12 proved themselves and showed that there is excellent football talent in our state.

Noah Mitchell played safety, Josh Mesmer played both sides of the line and Tyler Jopes played running back and line backer for the East 7-th grade team. Mitchell and Mesmer hail from the Lexington Catholic program that made it to the KYMSFA semi-finals in 2008. Jopes was part of the Bowling Green Purples that won the initial KYMSFA 7th Grade championship.

With kids like the sons of Ray Lewis and Moses Malone in the event the MVPs were already short listed. Needless to say Kentucky kids were not on that short list. But with two TDs and great defense Tyler Jopes of Bowling Green could not be denied. He was named the East MVP.

Knights will put up points even on the stingy Bowling Green D. Will take a great effort by the defense to pull out the win though.

I thought Bowling Green linebacker Lincoln Quick was on that team also?

No. I think he was nominated by KYMSFA but the players/coaches had to still get an individual highlight DVD into FBU.

This group of seniors from Bowling Green has had a great run since their middle school years. It has been interesting to watch them over the years.

Your optimism is admirable, but unrealistic. Perhaps venturing outdoors without your Purple-shaded glasses would help with a view of the real world. This game will be very competitive.

Bowling Green 28-20.

The seniors have never lost. They went undefeated in 7th, 8th, freshman, JV, and varsity. The varsity lost a couple of games, when they were freshman, but they didn't start. Heck, Nacarius Fant's team went undefeated and won the Toy Bowl (6th grade champs). These guys don't know much about losing.

You think? If this game is very competitive then X should be a solid favorite over the Purples in two weeks.
