They are physical; however, I don't believe they'll be able to stop the run playing the coverage they played in the 7 on 7. Press man on all receivers with 2 deep safeties. I'm sure they're only playing it in the 7 on 7's and will change once the run is an option for the opposing team.

My statement is pretty direct ...

As of right now .... both run well ... to me Moore ... has been more accurate and shows more promise with his arm . I freely admit that my thoughts are based on 7 on 7 .... which does not mean a whole lot.

 

Both can play ... both will do well .... as i said ... i would not be surprised.

I believe that is the case. Hard to believe they would do that. Thanks for the update though, from what I have heard they have some decent looking guys being fielded out there for them!

He is uber-talented, let's just let him get bigger, stronger, and develop his skills more and see where the chips fall. He is clearly very, very good and I wish the kid nothing but the best. He is really fun to watch.

Yes, he has been coaching over 20 years but I'm not sure if that all has been at Boone. I know he is extremely happy coaching this year but we may have to revoke his man card for kissing his wife on the sideline yesterday during the 7 on 7.

You add in the Spurrier, Elite 11 and 12 kinds of other garbage and try to pass it off on someone else .... weak.

I am 100% sure I am the king of keeping expectations low for NKY QB's (look up a few of my posts on Barker).

How you got that from what I wrote .... we will never know.

Moore looked good but I thought Feiger had the most upside. Feiger has one of the prettiest deep balls I've seen in awhile.

 

As for the question about Boone's defense, they seem to play a lot of press on the outside during the 2 7 on 7's I've seen them in so far and I'm not convinced they have the corners to play that yet, they do have a great MLB in Casey Boston and think he will be a beast for anyone who tries to go over the middle.

 

I agree with Guru, Cooper after the first session looked flat (on offense). Ludwig had some accuracy issues but also made some very good throws. The big question for me is how good will Coopers defense be? Although Cooper looked flat at times on offense, in all their sessions with their 1's on defense they seemed to shut down all 3 other teams offense more times than not. I believe they held Dixie to 0 TD's or only 1 during their session and started their JVs against BW and gave up a few TD's but when the 1's mixed with some of their 2's got in they seemed to do the job fairly well. Against Boone they looked good with a int or two also.

 

The offense seemed to sputter at times but seemed to show some good things. They have 5 solid WR's that should pose some matchup problems to opponents defenses.

 

Dixie had the most enthusiasm of any of the teams, they have some good size and it was nice to see the entire team get into it when a great play was made, they seemed the most focused of all 4 teams.

 

Beechwood was the most intriguing team out there. They were heads and shoulders more explosive than the team last year without Nussbaum. This team reminded me of the BW teams during the 90's where they can deffinatly air it out with the weapons they have. Should be a fun team to watch this year.

Random thoughts:

 

Cooper - Looked solid to start the day but appeared to tail off. I thought they looked better last week at Campbell. They were flat and lacked emotion.

 

Boone County - Started a little slow but then heated up. They rotated QBs and both of them looked solid. Lamb is the clear #1 but Frosh QB Peter Westoff played well. Boone definitely improved over last week - and even improved during the 7 on 7 but like Cooper, Boone lacked emotion and appeared flat at times.

 

Dixie - Well organized and emotionally charged. Dixie is very cohesive. Dixie had a lot of nice looking athletes. Dixie QB Drew Moore is the real deal. One play Moore was moving to his left and threw the ball 53 yards in the air and had plenty left in the tank. He is a D1 Prospect and he reminds me of Colin Kaepernick.

 

Beechwood - The Tigers are like an Ant Colony. They are all tiny, they all do their job, and they are very efficient. Beechwood QB Kyle Fieger is out of sight. He is extremely accurate throwing every type of pass including moving to his left. Fieger reminds me of Drew Brees. Simply put, if you can't defend the pass you will not beat Beechwood this year.

 

Been saying all along. Beechwood is deep in the receiver spot. Fast kids that can go deep and a few that may be a bit slower, but that can absolutely catch the ball. Didn't get to see anything yesterday, but I'm very excited about the prospects of the returning receiver talent (WR and Slot) combined with Fieger and addition of Slusher at WR. Had most of the talent last year, but until Fieger got there, there wasn't anyone that could do a progression. Prior to the playoffs, If the Primary receiver wasn't open, the QB was running. If coaches do it right, I expect see at least 8 different players with receptions in any given game.

 

Last year you only had to defend one receiver well against Beechwood. If you could guess where they were going (not hard) and put your best guy on them, you could shut them down. This year, you better have some studs back there, because Feiger can buy some time and he's total capable and more importantly, WILLING to take short yardage. If Beechwood's coaches allow him to take the First Down instead of always going for the Touchdown, it will be an amazing year. Far different from the passing game of the previous 2 or 3.

It sure is exciting to hear good reports about Beechwood passing the ball. I have been saying for the past couple years that they need a passing game to beat Mayfield. It sounds like this year they may have the talent to put that passing game in action in a big game. But as quickslick said, it is only 7 on 7's and very early to get too excited.

Good Lord, you're a level-headed one. You state you wouldn't be surprised if he isn't the best QB in NoKY by year's end, that would make him better than Drew Barker, who is the things that I listed. How did I make a leap of any kind? You won't be surprised if he is the best up here....the best up here currently is Drew Barker....so that would make him better than one of the nation's elite prep QB's. Again, you're confused how I got that from what you wrote? Really? What garbage am I trying to pass off? I say let's pump our breaks on the expectations for a talented young player and not say he could be better than an elite kid in 4 months, and I'm the one passing off garbage?
