7 on 7 at Ryle 7-18

Who can give us an update?

Ryle/Conner/Lloyd.

Not a lot of energy this morning. Lloyd probably had the most enthusiasm of the 3. Lloyd played Ryle's JV first game while Conner and Ryle varsity went at it. Looked like both Conner and Ryle had a few players out. Saw who I assumed to be the Aulick kid on crutches. Hope that's not serious. Andrew Way sat out for Conner. Maybe others.

Conner O looked OK. Some nice pitch and catch with Drew and Loney. Conner's strength is their ability to hit the intermediate passes due to having a QB who can sling it a bit. Ryle's passing game is going to be more play-action than a lot of NKY teams. They took more than a few snaps with the QB under center. If they're able to run it will obviously help the short passing game. QB does not have a strong arm but can be effective in play-action IMO. Struggles with any pass that requires zip. Fairly accurate on other passes. Deep ball hangs in the air a long time.

Not really much to report from this one. Hot. Not played at a high-energy level which I get.

From where I was (far end of Ryle ) I didn't get a close look at Lloyd. Had one kid that seemed to catch a lot of passes though.

Thanks Clyde.

I got a quick report too, in short, Ryle struggled some on offense, Barker is Barker, and Lloyd has a long way to go.

Thanks Clyde.

Name to look for this year : Isaiah Ebarb. Sophomore at Conner. Will get some reps at receiver. Doesn't know how to play it yet but seems to catch the ball well and can make plays.

Agreed. The kid is very raw right now, but possesses a lot of talent. Very good hands. I think his name will be well known come Nov.

I am not sure where to ask this but will go with it here. I am told Ryle's running back suffered a knee injury, possibly torn ACL, in the 7 on 7 at Beechwood. Can anyone confirm?

I heard they have to do some more testing to determine the severity of the injury.

Thanks Clyde.

It seems that Ryle is simply working to implement their new offense and trying to figure out who will play. They are only returning two players with varsity experience. Many juniors and sophomores were getting snaps with the varsity group vs. Conner and Lloyd on Thursday. I don't know where most expect them to be at this point but there were some bright spots. For the second straight passing league, Ryan Hill was unguardable. The timing is off on much of their passing game but should only improve.

Thanks Clyde.

I see the confusion, I got a quick report from a couple of people that were at the 7 on 7 and they said...
