August 16, 201313 yr Aaryn may be a terrible person, but she is very very good at competitions. Aaryn has reinvented herself. She has gotten much further than I would have guessed at the beginning of the season. She has actually become somewhat likable. Maybe it is an act, but she has done a good job.

She was just smart enough to know that she was on the hot seat for a while, and when an opportunity came for her to help one of the power groups in the house, she did it.

My understanding (and I'm open to correction if wrong) is that contestants on shows like this (BB, Survivor, etc) are compensated based on how long they are participating in the show. I also believe that there is a bonus for contestants that make it to the jury. I think that there is also a pretty substantial difference between 1st and 2nd place prize money. I though I heard once that 2nd place on BB gets 50K.

August 18, 201313 yr Had some friends that made it to the final round of casting for a reality/game show. They were going to be compensated more than enough to cover their time away from work even if they won nothing. Don't know how it works on all shows but that is how their deal was going to be.

The houseguests receive a stipend for each week they’re in the house, and also for the time they spend sequestered as part of the jury. Thus, the houseguests tend to be anxious to make it least to sequester; there, they get paid to just relax, not play a game or eat oatmeal “slop.” If they’re evicted earlier, they don’t get that additional jury-duty pay. This season, Jen confirmed that the stipend was $750 per week when she was considering refusing to go to the sequester house, and that’s been the standard stipend for nearly every season (for last year’s all-star season, the stipend was reported to have increased to $4,000 per week). A jury member for “Big Brother 8” would be in the house for 81 days as of Tuesday, the live finale. That’s 11.5 weeks, not including the time they spent sequestered before the series began. So, jury members would receive somewhere around $9,000 for their work, plus any prizes. America’s Player, Eric, earned $40,000 performing his tasks, for example, while Dustin took $5,000 during a competition. And, of course, there are the prizes: $500,000 for the winner, Dick, and $50,000 for the runner-up, Daniele.

Helen would need to convince AAryn that she would help take her to the final two, which I believe she can do because Aaryn surely realizes that she is the low person on the totem pole in the Amanda alliance.
August 20, 201313 yr Gotta tell you I'm getting more pleasure this season just reading the spoilers on Big Brother Network then in watching the show. I only watch on Thursdays to see the reaction to the eviction. Most unlikable and stupid bunch EVER. Amanda was handed to them not once but twice and they were to stupid to get rid of her (although internet rumors are that the producer had a way to get her back in). Aaryn and Gina Marie turn my stomach. Amanda is a delusional bully, I hope she enjoys the "fame" she has gotten from this show as she seems to be concerned about her image. McCrae is a "whipped" wimp. Andy is delusional if he thinks he has a chance. Spencer is worthless. Elissa is there only because of who her sister is and finally Helen. She has talked all season long about making a "big move" and yet when she had a chance to when the MVP put Amanda on the block twice she didn't do it. She deserves to be gone this week. I just hope that Judd is the juror that returns to the game. He could win.
