ACT Prep courses in NKY

Featured Replies

Any help is appreciated?

Have you (your family) attended any courses and how worthwhile were they? Single day or several classes?

BW offers a class.

Certain schools have an actual class on the ACT. I think ALL should.

My daughter did the ACT Boot Camp.

The class met 2 times a week over 4 or 5 weeks.

Her score improved by 3 points. So it was worth it.

However---she was diligent and she did do all the homework assignments and practice tests.

I have heard of others doing the ACT Boot camp with not as much success, but they always added that their kid did not do the homework.

I'm going to have my son do the ACT Boot Camp in the next couple months.

Would you please PM me with the specifics on this specific camp?

I have heard Coach Rash's wife does a great job teaching it.

My daughter did one of these "boot camps", didn't improve her score a single point and she did everything that was required of her. However she has NEVER done well on these kind of test to begin with.

I had the best ACT training course every back in the day. Got a concussion the night before in the game vs Montgomery Co. 2 hour bus ride home, no sleep and ACT the next morning, had to have a team mate pick me up to drive me to school to take the test. Got a 33 cant complain I guess. :ylsuper:

I wish you would have shared this secret with me when I took the ACT. I would have gone all Gus Frerotte on a wall.

As pointed out by LB the class is not a magic pill. It will help some. Not all.

You are right. Some kids just do not do well on those tests.

My daughter did improve by 3 points right after the course.

Then six months later she took the ACT again and went down a point. She was so disappointed.

That was our cue that her first score was as good as it gets.

One of my kids went to a class with Martha Geller. She's pretty good (husband is a bit odd).

Beechwood's ACT scores prove that Julie Rash does a very good job on the ACT. Unless your child is scoring at a very high level in the English and Reading sections, I almost guarantee scores go up in those areas if you take her training. She can probably document how much scores in those two areas go up for her Beechwood students from the beginning of junior year till when they take the ACT in February.

Agreed. But like I have seen people comment here on BGP with college sports camps, and recruiting and such, you want to look back and have no regrets and be able to say that you did all that you could do.

Same can be said for trying an ACT prep program.

Agree 100%, we are glad she did it. I feel so bad for her though, she carries a 3.5 GPA, but her ACT scores are
