Nothing is bigger than UK in this state. And nothing ever will be. That week of conditioning in the second week of June for two bench players is far more important than one week of practice for a traditional all star game between two states.

I like when people talk about Willis and Hawkins "never seeing the court at UK. Stop reading blogs and actually watch them play. Hawkins is incredibly tough and always responds to competition. Willis is 6'9 and can play 4 positions. Support your local talent. If they weren't good enough, UK wouldn't want them.

They will see very little of the court next year. Don't take that the wrong way. Nobody doesn't want to see them succeed but if you're going to act like just because they are part of one of the greatest recruiting classes ever that they'll see more than spot time next year then you are fooling yourself. They should both be quality players for UK and have fine careers at UK. UK is just way too loaded next year for the 9-12 players to see much court time. Just a fact.

 

 

And I have seen both of them play numerous times. I have always supported local talent as well. I have also been realistic about it as well.

I get what you're saying. I do. But look at what they did against "elite" players. Hawkins put it in the Harrisons, and Willis destroyed Bobby Portis (top 10, McD's, etc.). I just think they're getting discounted a little. Only time will tell.

In my world Dominique Hawkins would start for Kentucky instead of the Harrison twins. I hope he and Willis get on the court ASAP. The only time I root for UK is when the Kentucky kids are on the court. I want them to excel in a major way. I just wish that Cal was more understanding and had let them practice with the All Star team. This one week in June will not ruin their careers at UK.

I find it hard to believe that Kentucky only produce 10-12 D1 prospects.
