June 11, 201313 yr I read that this years incoming Freshmen average ACT score was above 25. I think UofL is already heading in the direction you mentioned. I know several students from the Ashland area that have gone to UofL the last few years for their Engineering program.
June 11, 201313 yr U of L has done a superb job in recruiting students in Northern Kentucky! Excellent school with a sparkling reputation in many majors. UL has been great at getting those kids that are in the top 25% of a high school class because, they probably give out more scholarships than any other state school. It's working too which is very impressive. At Beechwood's academic scholarship signing ceremony, there were around 21 students who received 50% or higher academic scholarships. Seven - one third of the entire group - received scholarships from Louisville. Louisville is embarrassing UK in the academic awards to in state students. UK had 2 signees at the Beechwood ceremony and both were Governor's Scholars, which has nothing to do with UK's scholarship program. In my experience, UK is the worst at offerring scholarships to in state students. I am a lifelong UK fan. If you are a UK alumni or supporter, you should be embarrassed at how UK is treating the brightest students in the state Tell UK they need to get better. I have.

I agree about how they aren't awarding enough money to the brightest in the state. But it's not hurting them. UL is trying to get kids to their school, UK IMO is trying to generate revenue and knows that they don't need to give out money for kids to come. UK also is focusing more in foreign countries to get some of their brightest.
June 11, 201313 yr City College of Louisville? In the before time... the long, long ago... Anyone know when Louisville actually joined the state system? Sometime in the 1970s? EDIT: Nevermind, found that answer myself. It joined the university system of Kentucky in 1970. When it was founded, it was the first city-owned public university in the United States.

What's happened on that campus just since I enrolled at Brandeis in the Fall of 2007 up to now is really impressive. Although the loss of the Bearno's lunch buffet at that shopping center on Fourth Street seems like a big step backwards...

But when it was on, man was it good.
June 11, 201313 yr I'll bet neither of you remember the plasma donation center that used to be in that shopping center, or the Chinese restaurant. :lol: Always interesting times. I used to go do my laudry at the laudromat that was there when I lived in Old Louisville. I'd put the laundry in, go eat Chines and chat with the plasma donors with their fresh $20's. :lol:
