Good point Glory! There are a lot of great kids in the program right now. My son has played with most of them since 1st grade. I hope they all have a great season and enjoy playing for the new coach.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Coach Utter and Coach Plunkett are all about the kids. I have been around Grant County for a long time and I think Coach Grammer will be a short timer. He is in way over his head. To go from Coach Hicks to Coach Grammer is a huge step backwards.

I am going to list several things at Grant County that are a joke.

1. The administration at Grant County H.S.

2. The super getting his doctorate paid for by the school board.

3. The school board and administration not supporting athletics.

4. The athletic director is lazy and very unorganized.

5. Putting a basketball committee together to hire a coach and having 3 parents on it.

6. And that results in hiring a coach that has been at 4 schools in 4 years and why did Grammer leave Ryle right in the middle of basketball season.

When was the last time Grant County made it to the state tournament? I remember them going in 1979 with Steve Howe who was a pretty good player but I can't think of a year since then that they made it to the Sweet 16.

I may hurt a few people's feelings but Tyler Carr is a very good player and the rest of Grant County's team is average. Grant County lost their next best player to graduation in Austin Anglin. At best Grant County will be .500 or less without Carr. I wish him the best of luck where ever he ends up.

Any team returning 4 starters that was 7th in the State for defense will do decent(better than .500) next year. Grant lost a very good defender in Anglin, but Austin Johnson will return and is the hardest working player Grant County had last year. Not to mention, Saylor will see more minutes this year along with Schneider. Grant will have some size on the court next year. Things don't look as bad as you make them.

 

Personally, I believe it is ridiculous to transfer your senior year for a sport. Maybe BGcat can shed more light on the situation.

First, Plunkett and Utter were and are two class acts. Second, Carr is rumored to be going any where from Shelby Valley, Collins, and Williamstown. Tyler is a good kid and wish him luck no matter where he goes. Third, Grammer will be successful at GC. GC lost to Turpin today by 6 points. Grammer had only worked the boys a couple of times. Give him and the team time to get to know each other and he may do what Hicks wanted too.

I am first going to help you with your basic math. 5 starters - Starters Carr and Anglin = 3 returning not 4. And not to mention that Carr and Anglin were head and shoulders the best two players on the team. Yes they do return 3 starters and I think Saylor, Adkins, and Schneider will play big minutes but after that it is a big drop off.

I think that Carr transferring is what is in his families best interest and to say that it is ridiculous is stupid on your part. He is a great kid and will be successful where ever he goes.

Aftet watching Grant County some last year, noticed that their Freshman And JV played the exact same style on offense and defense as Hicks' Varsity squad did. Will that change this season?
