Cincy Colerain High

I can think of a few reasons but....How can you send 11 football players to the next level (6 DI) and lose any games? Cincy St. X has sent only one to this point.

Someone enlighten me.

Bad play selection, weak schedule in comparison to the elite teams in Ohio.

I'm sure if more St. X players truly wanted to play football in college other than at the D 1 level they would have had more signings.

No balance on offense.

Last year Colerain just had too much D1 talent (with probably somewhere close to 20 D1 players on the team total) to get beat but this year with only maybe 15 or so the Cards couldn't get it done.

As much as I like all things Colerain year in and year out their lack of a passing game has cost them many a playoff loss.

Can you say "team sport"? Sometimes teams are better then the individual talents. Colerain has had a tremendous collection of individual talents for several years, but teams like St. I, Harding, Elder and St. X have had good teams for much longer. Sometimes the individual talents can carry a team, and sometimes they cannot. There is no "I" in "TEAM", but there is "ME".

Before we make the Cards out to be a bunch of "me players" lets not forget they won the D1 Ohio state championship in 04 and lost in OT to the eventual champs in 05.

I don't think it is a "Me" team at all. Colerain is married to the option on offense and they put the best option QB in the school at QB and if he can pass the ball that is an added bonus and if he can't pass the ball he is still the best option QB in the school so he plays QB and in those years Colerain has almost no passing game.

This isn't much different than Boone County when Alexander played, no matter how talented you are and no matter how well you run the football you are NOT going to beat the best (large) high school teams on a consistent basis if you can't throw the football.

Every once in a while you may sneak through through but that normally only happens when you have extraordinary talent like Colerain did in 2004 and George Rogers Clark did in 1991.

The team they lost to had an exceptional amount of D1 talent also.

Who? Cincy St X? I can think of one kid from this SR class who is D1. Ashley may be D1. Who else?

I did not mean to imply Colerain is all "ME" players at all. It was just a saying I've heard. My point was being a team versus a collection of individuals. It can take a long time for individuals to function as a team. Tradition also has a lot to do with success on the field, and Colerain is just beginning to build their tradition of winning big games. Apologies for not being more clear on this.

I can't really say anyone in particluar.. but I don't think cincy St. X is what you would call an "untalented team"

Colerain has been on a terror past few years. Alot of it is location and kids playing in the peewee's being brought into the system. I think they will only get better now alot of young kids have seen they are on top they will want to come there even more. I don't even think a Kentucky all star team could have beat some of there teams the past few years. However, they need to learn to pass. This is a Boone Co football team with Shaun Alexander like backs and qbacks as of lately.

I think its becasue a majority of St.X best players are Seniors next season. From what I understand they have quite a few underclassmen on DI radar.

That was my 1st thought as well but even still..... With that type of talent it seems to me the should have no equals........I played with one DI player and against several. It's unimaginable to think a team has 6 DI and 5 IAA players in the same class and lost.

The big difference was your team was very balanced.
