April 30, 201313 yr Good luck better hope they don't play SEC teams! They just might play an SEC team in the national championship game. Oh how funny a thread on that would be. Actually I wouldn't say "any" SEC team, there are some that OSU could beat imo but that may play out on it's own in a bowl game in Jan. 2014. I am a fan of OSU and the SEC so I certainly wish all the best, life is way too short to hate.

April 30, 201313 yr The difference between the last several champions and schools from other conferences all starts up front on the D-line. Alabama and LSU D-lines have been so much quicker than other teams O-lines that is almost not fair. I see Ohio St has a Soph D-lineman from Georgia and a couple of D-ends from North Carolina. They need to reach deep into the south and get some beef with speed and nasty intentions for the D-line. FWIW OSU should be no worse than top 2. Bama top 2, Cards Top 5, A&M and Georgia top 5 as well. I look for the Ducks to Qurack under the pressure of NCAA investigations and all of the turmoil that comes with that. I'd say the difference in the last title game had a lot more to do with the Bama offensive line then their defense. Also, their is no rule that says that only good quick defensive linemen come from the south. Their are still top defensive lineman in the Midwest, just not quite as plentiful.

You are definitely on to something, matter of fact one of the recruiters is a Carolina ace.

For what its worth, pretty much every team in the country is replacing starters on both sides of the ball and that is where recruiting comes in to play. OSU has had back to back top 5 classes so there is plenty of talent to work with. They will out score teams this year and there defense will be just fine!

April 30, 201313 yr With Meyers track record you have to consider OSU a threat every year. With Saban's track record you have to consider Alabama a prohibitive favorite for the title each year. I can't wait until the playoffs start even if it is only four teams. Going by this poll one semi final would be Ohio St. versus Louisville and the other one would be Alabama versus Oregon, if we had playoffs this year.
