Rex Ryan rips Orioles for not adjusting schedule

Featured Replies

Ryan is an obese pathetic excuse for a football coach. Guy needs to keep his mouth shut. The Orioles should not concern themselves one iota with the Ravens. If the NFL wanted the Ravens to open at home, they could've adjusted. It's not the Orioles job considering their schedule was well in place way before the Ravens won the SB.

Pretty dumb. I get it, but having the first home game of the season like the NFL has staged it the past decade or so is not a requirement. I am sure the Orioles could have accommodated, but I would not have budged either.

I don't care for Rex, I think his idea to move the game away is stupid, but like Rex I wish the Orioles would have played a little ball here.

Why? Their schedule was set for months ahead of time. If the NFL really wanted the Ravens to open up at home, they could have. They're the only ones who should adjust.

My word was "wish."

I understand why the Orioles didn't budge but I wish they would have.

Right, and I'm confused as to why? Why would anyone "wish" they would create an unnecessary hinderence to their season?

Again, if the Ravens and the NFL wanted them to open up at home so bad, they have no one to be upset with but themselves.

I wish the O's would have moved their gametime (not a little, short man), that is all.

Why, I guess because it is a new tradition for the NFL and along with what Rex said they do have 81 home games vs. 8 for the NFL. If baseball only had 8 home games I would completely understand. But 81, and you can't move a game a few hours!?

Why can't the Ravens play at home that night?

Orioles manager Buck Showalter says if Ryan is concerned with anything about Baltimore, he ought to be concerned about the Jets’ meeting with Baltimore this season.

“I think I’d be a little more concerned about November 24 when the Jets come here and try to figure out a way to beat the Ravens, wouldn’t you?,” Showalter said, via CSNBaltimore.com. “I’d think that would be a little bit more of a challenge. I try to stay out of things I don’t know about. Like I don’t know about the NFL schedule and the NFL challenges. So that would be my advice. I would stay in what is my area of supposed expertise.”

Orioles? manager tells Rex Ryan to worry about his own team | ProFootballTalk

Rex Ryan is an idiot. I'm glad the Orioles didn't budge, it's not their problem. If the NFL really thinks the Ravens deserved a home game to open the season they could of moved it to SNF or even played it on Friday etc. Rex Ryan's remarks are very arrogant and makes him look like even more of a joke than he already is.

Orioles could have made this a magical day for their city and their fans. Play a businessman's special at noon or 1 o'clock then fans could leave Camden Tailgate all evening then watch the Champs open their season.

I think it would have been nice for the Orioles to make a show of city spirit and accomodate the super bowl champs. One thing Ryan is right about is that many more people on that particular day will be interested in football than baseball. I don't think anything bad about the Orioles, just would have been a neat thing to do for the fans in the city.

The one thing I don't understand is this, it would of been even easier for the Ravens to change the time of their game. Why would Rex think it's Baseball's responsibility to change their schedule, they have nothing to do with the NFL...all the ravens had to do was change the time of their game, they could of even moved it to Sunday Night Football. Seems to me the NFL is the one that screwed this one up.
