I'm not trying to take away from the freshman, but they don't throw mid 80's

Talked to Kyle Kramer, they were pleased with his play and are excited to come back to another game. They seem to be interested in the kid, wonder if or when they will give him an offer.

Stringer & Combs are the best freshmen players around this area. I know both kids like football but the way they hit and run i hope they don't ruin there bodies by playing football, love the game of football but with that kind of talent the education and money is all the same. They stoled the show tonight.

 

Bite your tongue :sssh: I believe Combs' dad played Football for EKU. He is now a Coach so I'm guessing Combs is going to continue to play football. He was a great Basketball Player too, but he quit that. He has impressed me since he was in the 7th grade. He was the QB for the Freshman team as a 7th grader. He handled kids that were two years older than him and acted like a Captain. Of course, he was 6-3 as a 7th grader so I'm guessing that helped. I don't believe Stringer's personality will allow him to just do one sport. As people have said, Football still rules at Beechwood and I don't see either of them quitting to focus on Baseball.

 

On a serious note, I do agree with you. It's a risk. The Combs family is great and I know they will make the correct decision for them. I don't know Stringers, but hopefully they will do what is best long-term.

 

Beechwood would certainly seem to have at least 3 kids who have a legitimate shot a D1 College and more. Some exiting times at Beechwood Baseball after few years of under achieving IMO.

I know Dunn from Cooper is high on their list also. I know Dunn's dad told me they said they were only looking at 4 kids for the 2014 graduates.

They've both been timed by Midland in the mid-80's. Do they throw mid-80's consistently? Doubtful. But they've definitely touched mid-80's on the radar gun.

Per the Perfect Game website. Ethans profile lists 84, that is from last June when he wss 14. Perfect Game is one of, if not the, most prominent sites going. They did not get there by posting eroneous info. Dont see anything ftom Brayden, but he played in that same tourney at East Cobb, the 15u wood bat world series.

Are you basing this off of seeing them one time? Maybe they werent throwing real well. Or maybe it was freezing cold. Nobody ever said that they sat mid 80s (although stringer is getting there), so they could have been lower when you saw them, but for a FACT, they have both been in the mid 80s.

I'm new to the area and after seeing this site I thought I'd catch all of the first few*Beechwood games to go watch the 2 Chuck Norris players and was disappointed to see they didn't throw a complete game in 1 pitch. They are outstanding hitters and pitchers and will play Division 1, but they only appear to be throwing mid to high 70'a at best

First of all, that's just a funny comment right there. Kudos! :lol2:

 

Secondly - and I assure you I have no Beechwood favoritism here - you're just wrong on their velocity. Maybe you did see them on an off-day. But they unquestionably throw in the 80's. Midland has a "pretty good" (as in the best you can buy) radar gun. I'll go with their gun over your assessment six days a week and twice on Sundays.

Probably heading out to BW today to check out the Tigers.

You know they probably do throw mid 80's it just seems like they don't throw it consistently but it is cold and being a freshman I'm sure they're a little nervous. I never got the opportunity to play varsity as a freshman so I have no business saying I know what its like

I have heard the exit speed off of Braden's bat is low to mid 90's off of a tee.. That is pretty impressive for a 15yr old kid..

This just looks like some misunderstanding on how this has been worded. If you say they throw mid 80's, then they throw mid 80's with a top out speed of ?????. I'm sure you know what I'm saying. I can tell you that mid 80's is very solid for a freshman. Dunn as a freshman was 80-83 and topped out at 87. Once you get to that point the jumps get smaller as you go up. He's been 85-87 consistant with hitting 88 multiple times and 90 one time as a junior thus far. Just throwing that out there. Good Luck to those boys!!!
