Yes there are! And that's why i said it was just a scrimmage. The stories really don't matter or amount to much.

But if you must know every detail, HHS also moved players around and used 3 different pitchers. Conner also used 3 pitchers. Conner only had 15-17 kids on their bench and they are much deeper than HHS, so moving kids around for them is not too big of a deal. HHS had 20+ on their bench and they all played multiple innings. I also know of at least one starter that was missing in HHS lineup, not sure if there were others. At one point, one of the fans sitting next to me pointed out that HHS' 6 girls in the infield were all 7th graders...including the pitcher and catcher! Heck, at the very end against the HHS 7th grade group (or what we know as the JV team), there was at least one Conner starter on the field still. No big deal at all, just saying it was a SCRIMMAGE and with them only carrying 15 or so, they played whoever, even at the end.I don't even think either team kept score. There was very little strategy (maybe two bunts in the whole game) so again, not a lot to really talk about. It looked like both teams were just happy to be on the dirt and let the kids play.

As for Friday, like I said, the sceduling gods did HHS no favors. They play Dixie and Conner back to back that night. Since "Dixie will be out for revenge for hhs "stealing" their pitcher" (as you put it), it will be intersting to see who pitches which game for HHS. Not sure their number 1 could go that long in the cold this early in the season. But we'll see.

Well that's great, good luck to HHS hopefully that games get in.

Back to the thread topic.......it's going to be downright COLD tomorrow night for those 9:00 pm games. Will Robbie Dixon have some 55 gallon drums burning wood to keep what spectators are there warm?

If he does he will probably charge us to stand by them.

Well, at least it's sunny today.

Just walked in from Softball City.....Great night of softball but it was very cold. Highlands took the 1st one from Dixie in extra innings and then lost the late one against Conner with a walk off single. Highlands is going to be a tough out this year. Much improved from last year. Great job girls!!?

Conner started their #2. Congrats Highlands on beating Dixie. BTW the parking stunk for this.

Is the girl from Dixie that switched to HHS pitching for the Birds?

Agree, when the sun went down........HOLY :poop:

Saw some very entertaining games tonight and enjoyed the many conversations.

Good luck to the Lady Birds this morning. Keep those tail feathers warm.

I believe she pitched for HHS in the Dixie game. HHS won in ITB 3-2 (I think) Dixie had a chance to tie in ITB but had a couple bad base running plays that cost them, pretty fun game to watch, both teams played well.

I want to give a big shout out to Brossart and the Big Green Horse, last night was a pretty fun night at the park. Great getting to see many teams at one place and their seemed to be a buzz in the park. Sure some of that had to do with it being one of the few times teams have been out side. I would love to see tourneys like this more often.

For the teams that played late it was pretty bad bc of the cold but still good to be out.

They played better than JMU did against IU

You are correct, great point!!

You are correct, great point!!

JMU covered the spread against IU so they exceeded expectations

It has been a very well ran Tournament and Softball city has done a good job hosting! They have a parking issue when a game is going on and the other teams are arriving for next games, but thats a result of a good turn out! Even with $6.00 Admission the games I got to watch were worth the price of admission! It is so fun to hear teams errupt with excitement on other fields when something is happening! Bottom line you just can not beat tournament atmosphere, even if its freezing! The 9:00 game was brutal! I give all the girls credit for playing hard with quality ball so early in the season in pretty extreme conditions.

Highlands Results in Pool A:

Highlands has room to improve yet played pretty good still not perfect but fun to watch.

Highlands Beat Dixie in their first game 4-3

Highlands Lost to Conner 3-2

Highlands Beat Nichalos Co 5-1

Stopped by to see some games. Beautiful day. Got to hang with Lawnboy for a while.

Nice tourney by the Brossart folks. Hats off.
