For fun let's try to predict the order of finish in each pool.

 

Pool A

Carrol Co, They seem to have improved and had a nice win over WV

Brossart, Really struggling can they pull it together for their own tourney

Lloyd. Seems to improve a little bit every year but still have a ways to go

Knock PA, No way this team is any good and drives down here to play in this tourney

 

Pool B

Notre Dame, Addition of Smith should get them though this pool

Holy Cross, Homer pick plus they will have at least 2 hours of practice in for the week before Friday so they should be sharp

Bracken, Tough loss to St Henry

Ludlow, Bc they are Ludlow

 

Pool C

Connor, Always tough good pitching

Nicholas Co, No clue but figure they are as good as the other 2 and we played them in the all A several years ago at their place and it was a blast

Dixie, They have revenage on their mind for Highlands for stealing their pitcher

Highlands, Bc they didn't talk about what happened at the scrimmage with Connor I assume it went bad, going to keep going against them until they prove me wrong

 

Pool D

St Henry, Guessing this will be a real good early season show down between two of the top pitchers in the 9th between Knotts and Butts, Knotts has the better over all team but I am taking Butts in this one.

Boone, Well coached

Campbell Co, Should be competetive

Chrisitan Academy, I am sure they will win and are top 10 in the state since I didn't look but they are still from Louisville so I am against them!

 

No need to talk about the HHS/Conner scrimmage. Just a scrimmage. It was probably 4-1 with all starters in for about 5 innings. Conner hit the ball pretty decent, but HHS gave them a couple runs also. By no means was HHS out classed or over matched. HHS made some mistakes that led to a few runs and Conner was pretty consistent. Kind of what you'd expect out of the two teams.

Just don't think any of the bird fans felt it was a big deal. Kinda got the feeling you felt the birds were trying to hide something. Why didn't you call out any Conner fans for not posting about it.

I have never known a Connor fan post on here. Your right I did feel like it probably didn't go well for the birds. You guys should have a very nice season, good luck.

Yes, this was just a scrimmage. Conner put new players in every inning and rotated players in several positions. I believe Conner and highlands are in the same pool. Very interested to see the outcome when it counts. Can't wait to watch some competitive softball. Also want to see Christian academy play this year. They were strong last year.

I do a lot of interviews for work, I can have 10 witnesses, and get 10 different stories so sometimes I am not sure you ever get the total truth.

Back to the thread topic.......it's going to be downright COLD tomorrow night for those 9:00 pm games. Will Robbie Dixon have some 55 gallon drums burning wood to keep what spectators are there warm?

Yes there are! And that's why i said it was just a scrimmage. The stories really don't matter or amount to much.

 

But if you must know every detail, HHS also moved players around and used 3 different pitchers. Conner also used 3 pitchers. Conner only had 15-17 kids on their bench and they are much deeper than HHS, so moving kids around for them is not too big of a deal. HHS had 20+ on their bench and they all played multiple innings. I also know of at least one starter that was missing in HHS lineup, not sure if there were others. At one point, one of the fans sitting next to me pointed out that HHS' 6 girls in the infield were all 7th graders...including the pitcher and catcher! Heck, at the very end against the HHS 7th grade group (or what we know as the JV team), there was at least one Conner starter on the field still. No big deal at all, just saying it was a SCRIMMAGE and with them only carrying 15 or so, they played whoever, even at the end.I don't even think either team kept score. There was very little strategy (maybe two bunts in the whole game) so again, not a lot to really talk about. It looked like both teams were just happy to be on the dirt and let the kids play.

 

As for Friday, like I said, the sceduling gods did HHS no favors. They play Dixie and Conner back to back that night. Since "Dixie will be out for revenge for hhs "stealing" their pitcher" (as you put it), it will be intersting to see who pitches which game for HHS. Not sure their number 1 could go that long in the cold this early in the season. But we'll see.

I guess no one knows the answer for sure. I'm assuming they will play since it's already Thursday and teams are traveling. That's cool that we'll get on the field, but it's going to be cold!!!!
