March 27, 201313 yr But I do believe homosexuality is wrong and I know exactly why I believe it and I have sound reasons. Based on some I'd your posts, I feel as if I have a general idea as to your reasoning on the topic. However, I may have missed a few posts or misinterpreted a few posts along the way. That said, would you care to definitively state the reasons you think it is wrong? Or, in other words, are your feelings Biblically based? Does the idea of two men together just give you the creeps? Or do your feelings stem from something altogether entirely different?
March 27, 201313 yr I was wondering if anyone called up Nike today to complain about them supporting the destruction of the sanctity of marriage with their Tiger Woods ad?:whistling:

Since my lifestyle is based on my religious beliefs and my religious beliefs are based on the Bible, then naturally the Bible is the basis for my world views. However I realize that not everyone believes that the Bible is true so I try not to use Biblical passages when discussing the issue because those passages hold not weight with people who disregard the Bible as true. Here a some non-biblical reasons why I think homosexuality is unnatural and am against Same Sex Marriage. 1. While it is hard to find divorce rates amongst homosexuals, one can find some very general stats (yes I said general) and those stats show that Gay Divore rates are higher then the 50% or so divorce rate of heterosexuals. For example, the first Lesbian couple to get married, those two blond women who smiled and kissed in Boston I think and everyone cheered, got divorced less than a year later. 2. The one society, I think, that has accepted homosexuality as "normal" suffered irrepairable damage as a result of it (Yes I know that Ancient Greece accepeted homosexuality for different reasons then America today). 3. Whenever any society or group of people in history have tried to replace the nuclear family with another form of family (Polygomy, Open Marriage, Communes, Swingers, etc) it has always failed. The nuclear family thrives. 4. Here is some circular reasoning that I realize is not very sound..... Whenever anyone has set out to prove that homosexuality is genetic, they have always come up empty handed. There is not a sliver of evidence that has zero holes. Combine these and some others (I despise long posts because I don't think people read them) along with my religious views and here I am. But I do not hate anyone. I personallybelieve God loves all his children, even those that are Gay. I sin too and I believe God still loves me.

I could throw out other Biblical ideas but I do not think using the Bible to discuss the issue is good for this thread. The fact is that it cannot be scientifically proven either way. Where does the burden of proof lay?

Should they also not be allowed to marry? I wonder what the divorce rates used to be for interracial marriage? The stress of relationships that society shuns is very high, I'd imagine. 2) Very weak. Many societies that shunned homosexuality no longer exist. 3) How do you come to this conclusion? I know nuclear families that are a disaster. I know of a gay couple (unmarried, of course) that has thrived for over 20 years. 4) Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Yes, God loves all of His children. Even those that are heterosexual.
April 4, 201313 yr Author But lets throw the question back. What actual evidence or reasons do any of you have for thinking that homosexuality is natural? Now you cannot say "because I just know it is" or "I have a friend who is gay and I know he was born that way" or "I just know myself and who I am." I gave actual answers, even though some of you didn't like it.

April 4, 201313 yr So......you are not going to answer? Are we having a discussion? If so, you ignored the points in my previous post.
April 4, 201313 yr Kahlid, I don't believe for a second that you care if homosexuality can be proven scientifically to be genetic. If that happened today, you would use your Bible to denounce it. Success rates of gay vs straight marriages cannot be compared fairly until they are enough legal unions to make an adequate study. And, as TBG noted, unconventional marriages face too many judgemental hurdles from society. Excellent response from True Blue and Gold!

Yes, God loves all of His children. Even those that are heterosexual. 1. Apples and oranges. I don't think anyone anywhere has ever suggested that homosexuals are a race of people. Good overall point about the subgroups though. 2. Not necessarily because of shunning homosexuality, but I cannot think of one example that fits your point. Maybe the USSR or other totaliterian regimes, but they fell for other reasons. 3. Nuclear family structure never goes away in a society. All others forms of family are fads that come and go. Same-Sex marriage may be a fad (or option) that stays around for a very long time though. 4. So you are saying that there is no evidence? I'm glad to hear that because usually people say "Science has now proven"
April 4, 201313 yr Author I was going to hit the edit post button in order to add this to my previous post but it wouldn't let me for some reason. I want you guys to belive me when I say that I do not wish ill will on anyone regardless of who they are. I am not "homophobic" (if that is even an actual word); I am not afraid of homosexuals, I don't think they would ever hurt me or anything. I have had friends and co-workers and a relative who is gay and they are for the most part fun people, who are a riot to be around. I personally believe someone can be Gay and also be a Christian. I do not automatically consider a homosexual to be "lost." We are having a pretty good discussion and I am not attacking anyone and I hope no one will attack me either. This whole thread started because the amazon company would not even have a discussion with those people that disagreed with their commercial and I am assuming that since there was protocol in place for the customer service rep to follow, that I was not the only one to call.
