IF Kentucky were to NOT make the NCAA tourney, should they take an NIT bid?

Featured Replies

Not sure why someone hasn't brought this up already.

If the players are disinterested, not going to be back, etc...

...why accept an NCAA bid? Why not just let the season end? Why give the selfish players a few more games to improve their NBA stock?

Few posts ago but I agree with your point.

Hmmm ... good point. Obviously the dream of winning a National Title is there in the NCAA versus the NIT which is the big difference.

Hopefully the Cats will now get in the ncaa tournament and this thread no longer will have a point to debate.

Don't know if this was brought up in another thread, but declining an NIT bid is not an option. Teams invited must play...

Is there money to be made playing in the NIT? Of course there is! Does Kentucky get to share in the money that the SEC teams earn playing in the NCAA? Of course they do! Will Kentucky play in the NIT? You bet they will as the other SEC teams will demand it to share in the $$$$.

Will UK get to host a home game? Doubt it since Rupp is hosting the NCCAA but Yum is available!

If UK turns down an NIT bid then I would lose a ton of respect for my favorite team. There is no program "Too Good" for the NIT.

I bleed UK Blue, even have part of my man cave dedicated to UK including a UK Blue felt pool table. They didn't deserve to be in the big dance, they sucked this year and although I'm bummed they didn't get in, they didn't deserve to.

Correct, gametime cleared us up on that one in a thread someplace.
