Rick Pitino: Gorgui Dieng '98 percent' gone' to NBA Draft

Featured Replies

Rick Pitino doesn't expect Gorgui Dieng back next season.

Louisville's head coach said that his 6-foot-11 junior big man is "98 percent gone" and will participate in Senior Day festivities on Saturday when the Cardinals close out their home slate against Notre Dame.

"If he is projected as a first-rounder, he is leaving," Pitino said. "And I'm almost sure he'll be taken in the first round."

Well, with that news, I fully expect Dieng to be back with UL next season.

I think he'll be a late 1st rounder, so I imagine he's gone. The interesting decision will be what Behanan decides.

Right now I think he's deciding not to get any rebounds.

There are no words to adequately express my affection for Gorgui Dieng. He's not the greatest player but he may well end up my favorite Cardinal player ever.

As an avid UL hater, I agree with you. Love how he plays & seems like a top-notch kid.

Isn't that the truth?

Ricky P. is allergic to the truth. All smoke and mirrors.

Agree with the thought that this probably means Dieng will come back. I wouldn't believe Ricky P if he told me the sky was blue.

If he does in fact leave, I will be very sad. Gorgui is easily the most liked player on the team. I wish him the best if he's not back.

As for Behanan, I feel like he would be laughed at in the draft. And if he does decide to go, I'll be far less upset about his departure than Gorgui...

You mean a 6"6' power forward with a propensity for trash talk and limited athleticism for NBA standards is not going to shoot up the draft board?

Limited athleticism is not a trait of Behanan's. He's not "big" enough to play his position in the NBA, but athleticism is not an issue...

For an NBA undersized guy? I don't see NBA athlete when I watch him. Good college athlete, couldn't guard a small power forward or a real big guy on the block either. I'll stand by it, limited NBA athleticism.

I think we agree here... But again, I think it's more his size than his athleticism.
