March 5, 201313 yr Somewhere along the way Olberman forgot what his job was... to report and comment about sports. Like many before and probably many after he made the mistake of assuming that the ratings were more about him than the subject of his reports. He went from making funny off of the cuff remarks on stories to prepared judgemental diatribes. Put another way he got to big for his britches. If his ego could take a back seat and go back to "sports" reporting his return wouldn't bother me. If however he comes back to the holier than thou idiot that he was in his last job, no thank you.
March 9, 201313 yr ESPN sucks. They may as well bring him back because they'll suck whether he is there or not I completely agree with you. I find it nearly unwatchable. They lost me a couple years ago.

The book also stated he was the best at writing, reciting and off the cuff witticism. the biggest on-air complaint is that he may come across too high brow or share anecdotes, like Dennis Miller, that would go over the heads of the audience. He is better than 99% of that station.
March 10, 201313 yr The over the top snide comments made during nearly every highlight on ESPN now (that we all hate) has it's Genesis (at least partially) with Olbermann. He is the epitome of all that is bad with ESPN now.

He is better than 99% of that station. Problem is because of his own actions and failures you can't seperate his politics from him. His politics define him now. There is no way ESPN who always plays it safe wants to anger a large bloc of their viewers.

The others do a better job of mixing it up with guests, topics, sports, etc. M&M are more an extension of SportsCenter than a radio show, and we all know how bad that has become.

I get tired of their schtick - metrosexual non-athlete vs dumb jock. Stop insulting my intelligence. Cowherd and SVP are good listens.
