Montgomery County 69 Bishop Brossart 53

Featured Replies

I felt like Bishop Brossart played a great 1st quarter, and when it ended with them down 1 it looked pretty obvious they weren't going to have enough to hang in there for a full 32 minutes. Montgomery Co never made a huge run, but used several 5-7 point runs to build a lead that kept growing though out the game.

The Uebel and Jennings for Brossart were just physically outmatched by T. Jones and Wallace. Saunders had to work hard chasing Prewitt for a lot of the game, and had trouble with the length of D. Jones and Prewitt, so he never really got going offensively.

Trentman got a lot of his points off the offensive glass and at the line. I thought he needed to be more assertive for the Mustangs.

It was a great season for the Mustangs, and they should be right back in the mix next season.

For the Indians, Jones and Wallace did an excellent job pressuring the ball and preventing Brossart from being able to really run their offense. In the first quarter, breakdowns lead to several easy layups for the Mustangs, but eventually the pressure force a number of steals that led to several runout buckets, despite 3 or 4 missed opportunities with poor outlet passes leading to turnovers. Prewitt didn't force things too much, and took control in the second half. T. Jones was crucial keeping the Tribe even in the first half, and Piersawl came off the bench with several strong rebounds and a pair of important buckets. Darius also hit several shots for the Indians.

This was the least Happy used his bench all year with only 7 players logging minutes before both teams pulled the starters, and Walker probably only logged about 2 minutes in that time.

All in all, a big win for the Indians in a game that played out almost exactly like those familiar with both teams expected.

I forgot, Combs played for a few seconds and picked up a foul, so the Indians did use 8 before the starters were pulled.

I don't see Scott or Harrison County being able to handle the MoCo Indians. Too much talent.

Scott played with Montgomery ended up loosing by 10 earlier. Not to mention they were missing Felts and Castelman

It happened just like I thought. The 2 guards get the MVP of This game. Wallace and T jones put the pressure on Brossart like they have never seen before. Prewitt has a just OK game. I was impressed with Brossarts center 44? He played great. But the rest of them were guarded hard. Didn't know what to do or how to respond.

#44 = Drew Burns. While Drew finished with a double-double he really struggled to convert. Missed 3-4 "bunnies". 5/16 from the field. Not slamming the kid, he gives a solid effort.

As for Montgomery, they were good, real good. They forced Brossart into situations that they had never been in before. With the right draw and if a few things happen in other regions I could see them winning state. Omar is good, but I think this Indians team will go as far as Jones will take them. He is (from an outsider looking in) the leader of this team. I was impressed with how Omar let the game come to him. Many times great players start to "force it" and it can lead into panic. He was just cruising until the Indians needed him. Good luck the rest of the way to the Indians.

Good luck to the Brossart seniors. Loved watching Saunders develop into a great player. Enjoyed watching Uebel dish out the rock, noone wants to win more than he does.

If MoCo plays the way they did tonight I'd pick the Indians by 25+.

I listened off and on until the third quarter & it sounded like Montgomery's quickness was a huge problem for Brossart.

Congrats to the Indians on advancing & to Brossart on an outstanding season! :thumb:

Congrats to the Indians on the win. Thought it would be closer than it was. I know all too well how good the Indians are and how they each play together. Doesn't surprise me on Omar. He is a team player and will step up when is needed.

A special thanks to TAC and jahearme for texting me updates on the game!!!!

Also want to give congrats to BB on a great season. They should be a top team next year too.

The last loss of the season is always tough, however, tonight the win by Montgomery County was definitive. They were simply the better team.

They played great "Blind Side" defense, attacking the ball from the ball handler's blind side, causing several points off of turnovers for the Indians.

Prewitt was money, and as other posters have stated let the game come to him. He led all scorers with 23. Bryan Wallace put up 22, including 8 in the third quarter which sealed the deal. Tyler Jones is on another planet when it comes to handling the rock, penetrating and either scoring, or dishing off for an assist.

Drew Burns is a junior who is a work in progress. I expect a huge confidence surge going into his senior year, and the removal of the mask. Jennings and Trentman are proven players who we are grateful to have back next year, along with Erik Rieger, who we expect to become an impact player.

We lose two seniors who are not just players on our teams, but our friends, with whom we work side by side on a daily basis. You grow close to these guys and it's tough to cut them loose. Ben and Justin will always be remembered for their leadership, never taking plays off, playing through pain, and making major contributions to the success of the program. We are glad you played for us.

It really doesn't matter who you had or didn't have. If MOCO wants it, they will take it. MOCO's D Jones didn't play but 8 min and it was Wallace's first game back and MOCO's first game in more than a week. I've heard these excuses from you in a previous thread. Again, it don't matter who they had.

Congrats Montgomery County

So very true 'Stang, so very true. Congrats on a great season by the Mustangs.

As much as it pains me to say it, you're right. Montgomery is just a very, very talented team.

Brossart's coaching staff had a great game plan. Unfortunately, Jones and Wallace were just too quick.

The previous score was 66-51...fifteen points and MOCO had one starter hurt and another just back from being out after Scott Co tournament. Will win tonight by as much!
