We have speculated here in the recent past. I think the problem with Bush to Cincy is he is looking for 5 million a year and I doubt the Gals want to pay that much. I could see two years at 7 million or something similar.

He was the 9th highest paid back in '12 at 6.5 million. I have a feeling he will make more than 3.5 million per year on his next deal.

Most of these teams who can win the "BIG" game really don't have much salary space to sign those guys. So they most likely wouldn't be leaving to go to a team who can win the "BIG" game. If they leave it would be because the Bengals gave them a cheap offer, and someone offered a lot more. However in terms of them wanting to win, if they want to be on a team who can win their best bet would be to stay with the Bengals since the teams you mention most likely won't have the money.

So what is the difference between the teams that can win BIG and the Bengals.....oh yyea the other teams can win BIG. So the bungals keeping the same players that have prevented them from winning Big is the way they always seem to operate whichh is why this isn't surprising to me.

Now that philosophy use to be horrible considering the Bengals couldn't draft well either. However even NFL experts even talk about how well the Bengals have drafted the last 4 years. I know I know with you, you can't see good things like that because since they were so bad for so long its to hard to see anything good. However people who do it for a living even see that they are drafting better. So yes for once it actually does make sense to keep their own guys, because for once they actually have very talented young players who they really should keep.

 

As I said though it sure would be nice if they do go out and get a top player who isn't past his prime and could contribute, I can't argue with you on that. I know I would love to see that happen too. Especially since some top players may actually give the Bengals more consideration than they would have in the past. However the idea of using most of this money to keep their talented young guys now is not a bad idea this time around.

I don't buy it. 4 years is the avg NFL career so that would tell you they should of had a big time winner by then.....not even close. But more importantly and what you and others seem to forget when they bring up the silly comparison between the Steelers and Bengals doing things the same way....The Steelers don't let their good players go!!!!!!! The Bengals have let their best players go time and time again.

You have mentioned Steinbach a few times, but you seem to forget why they did have to let him walk. At the time they had both tackles Willie Anderson and Levi Jones also having their contracts due. Levi Jones at that point was one of the best tackles in the league and was shutting down top pass rusher such as Freeney from the Colts. Which position is more important LT who protects your QB or a guard? I sure hope you say LT or else now I know why we have so many of these discussions because you simply don't get it. Now in typical Bengal fashion the very next year Levi gets hurt and has knee and back problems and basically sucks from that point on. So yeah it looks like a mistake AFTER the FACT. They made the decision at that time that any team would have made because Levi Jones was one of the best in football at that time.

 

Now with Joseph I can't argue that one, there was no reason why they should have let him go.

They have said the same thing every single year. Every year when cap space is mentioned the front office and coaches (through Hobson) say they will use their money on keeping their own.

 

You act like this is something new....it's not. IT's the same ole same ole. Every year in the offseason they dust off the same old record and toss it on the turntable. Itt's the Bengals #1 hit and their one hit wonder all rolled into one.

People would have tore the Bengals up if they kept Steinbach over Jones at that time. LT is ten times more valuable than a LG and Jones at that time was performing as one of the best tackles in the game. Its really easy for someone like you to question the decision after the fact. The same goes with Justin Smith who once again is another guy people were saying he was a bust, another guy they missed on. He wasn't worth the overall number 4 pick in the draft, shoot most people were upset when they franchised him the year before and not letting him walk that year. Scheme just as much as the player plays a big impact on how players, we see it all the time.

Why are you so stuck on Levi or Steinbach? You can't seriuosly be that ignorant. Who said anything about not signing Levi? I said they should of signed Steinbach instead of re-signing the aging dinosaur Willie Anderson who was aging and nearing the end of his career.
